Eye for an eye is a Soulfly song :s

I'm not sure how it's going to sound without DJ Shadow but i
will give it a listen

Yeah, i know what you mean. Its like got a green package
with pink drawingso n it. I think its an imported mix
sessions from James Lavelle, but don't take me on that.

if titsworth's site is to be believed, it should be a damn
good album. they're not making much mention that this is an
album by elastica's keyboardist but rather emphasizing all
the guests.... good idea considering i don't think the
keyboardist was even on any elastica releases, so he's
pretty much untested waters

im not feeling good about no shadow... if you ask me, he
kinda WAS unkle.

the stuff before him was just kinda mediocre (heck, even
half of psyence fiction was kinda just rehashing stuff)

i dont know, whatever... some people will prolly love it, so
im glad if they do.

Thats called 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats'. Iits a
compilation of tracks mixed by Unkle. Lots of exclusive
remixes, and its well worth purchasing (3 CD's btw)

You got it all wrong. What the point of listening to DJ
Shadow without James Levelle...? You do know that James
Levelle is the producer on all your favorite Shadow
albums... right?

Reuniting Ian Brown and Mani....that sounds like a good
plan, but what James Lavelle will be doing there is a big
question. I always saw UNKLE as a Shadow side project, and
without him....well, lets just wait and see how it turns
out.

Now if only somebody could get Ian Brown and John Squire
together once again...*keeps fingers crossed*

Did anyone hear the UNKLE Vs Slam single, Narco Tourists?
That was pretty damn good.

What's this about an Elastica keyboardist?

i think that's what unkle77.com says, about who is doing the
majority of the music on the album. it's not mew though, nor
is it mark from the fall..

i saw part of the video last night - definately not
straightfwd electronica, but then i hardly know unkle so i
don't know what to expect. a bit rocky. the video itself is
amazing. cartoon stuff with caterpillar/butterfly theme (if
my terrible memory is worth anything)

Excellent group them, was listening to the track "Clockwork"
by them over a mates house last weekend. Very good live and
well worth the cost of entry (they're around the UK at the
moment), about £8 to get in. Fortunatley I was guestlisted
last time so it cost nadda :D (//gloatmode off)

you'll be kicking yourself hard the day you listen to it

just think if you bought it when it came out you could've
got it as cheap as $7.99 here in the US (i'm sure the UK's
had similar sales)

okay so fuck all this blabla it'll probably suck talk.
This album is great. Really in my top3 of 2003, not a
bad track on the album. I like them all.
Slight faves: Eye 4 an eye, in a state, invasion, reign.

in short:of course it's different than the previous unkle
stuff but in it's own regard it's another top-quality
release.

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2003-12-16 15:48 [#00994561]

this album is pretty mediocre... it's chosen "chill" over
trip hop, so we have to suffer through inane vocals, and
overdramatized production... it might've been tolerable if
it wasn't 2003, and we've long since passed what we have
here...

offline X-tomatic from ze war room on 2003-12-16 15:58 [#00994577]

... but then of course that's just your humble opinion,
besides what's wrong with "chill"?

Speaking of chill, I've also seen a fair amount of "ambient
bashing" here lately, where people post an ambient track
they made and then get some lame response, "yeah it sounds
good, but you know it's just another ambient track", as if
it's too easy to create a decent ambient track, or that it
really doesn't fall into the category of music at all.

oh yeah, "inside" is also a slight fave on the never never
land album.

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2003-12-16 16:06 [#00994595]

i fucking breath ambient music... there are times when it's
all i listen to (ambient, abstract glitch, noise, etc.)

i think chill is the most derivative, predictable, boring,
commercialized version of ambient-esque music in
existence... that said... i don't hate the new unkle
album... it's listenable... but when i can listen to many,
many other albums that are well above and well beyond what
lavelle is doing... i just don't see the point...

offline DeadEight from vancouver (Canada) on 2003-12-16 16:06 [#00994598]

(and yes, this is my humble opinion, and i respect anyone's
right to disagree with me... )

There's a special gatefold pop up thing of psyence fiction
that costs over £100... I think it has one 12" and one 10"
in it.

Not sure if you get the cool unkle character transparent
inflatable with it or whether that was just a promo item.

I got an eye for an eye 12" for £1 brand new in HMV a month
back :D

just a different way of looking at ambience...

Not so far as I remember- I thought that whilst it looked
good, there was very little actual content (exclusive or
otherwise) to justify the cost.
