insulting is fun? you're weird. some people really need that
chat feature. I think this will stop most nonsense threads
on the mb. When i read the topics a stranger wouldn't even
guess it's a music related mb!

Anus_Presley, don't you start acting all pious; I remember a
month or so again you were behaving extremely hostile to
some people, even telling them (if memory serves) to fuck
off...

...hardly any regular poster is blameless of either
provoking insults or trading insults... I know I've done my
fair share, but then, I admit that mostly it is done
satirically: I've probably lost my rag here twice, and once
was LONG ago (a year ago), and the other time I just put
because I'm sure there's bound to have been one other time.

how do you want to define when someone's flaming another one
? sometimes it's just making fun...

most of the time it's pretty obvious i think (esp. when
looking at the context)

normally thru context and tone -- it's obvious when, say, me
and yavo (Jarworski) or me and thad (recYcle) trade insults,
because it's known that we're all friends, so it's just a
fun exercise... but if it's hostile and over a subject such
as capitalism, the war, religion &tc, then it should be
obvious that it's serious -- in which case it should be
clamped down on so a serious discussion can take place.

For the record I am perfectly cool with having polite
debate/discussion. I realize that people have strong views
on certain things and that there is a difference between a
strong or bold statement and something that is intentionally
degrading. It is impossible to never offend anyone and I
think anyone here would agree that being PC is not even good
in theory for the most part. I would like to continue using
this messageboard and all I would ask is for respect,
however I do not expect people to not say what they feel.
It is like the old saying "It's not what you say but how you
say it."

This is my first attempt at making one of these animated
gifs. It looks like the brighter frames must be outside of
the web's color space because it looked a lot nicer when I
did it. Oh well.

I'm kool and the gang with these new drachonian
restrictions. Personally, I think you should have a
electronic equivalent of a swear jar. For every derogatory
term written you are deducted ten points. That would soon
put an end to it. Then everyone will be too afraid to say
anything that will outrage people or rock the boat. We'll
soon have evryone singing from the same boring hymn sheet.

For every derogatory term written you are deducted ten
points

so people with many points would be allowed to write more of
those terms.. (in that case i could write 3 times as much of
those terms as you, that can't be good..)

banning is the only method imo

"so people with many points would be allowed to write
more of those terms.. "

what a strange assumption.

you only would lose 10 points each time. at a certain point
you would hit zero and you can't deduct from zero.

so everyone can still flame all they want, in equal
quantities.

this would only really work if either having a LOT of points
would have some beneficial side-effect, OR having zero
points means getting banned, for example.

We should make one thread entirely devoted to flaming. This
will be the only place that flaming is permitted. This way
the other posts would be devoid of flames and there would be
a contained outlet.

Omneignotumus - nah that would have repercussions if anyone
was really offended, plus what if a poor innocent newbie
wondered in there by mistake...kablammy!

bill hicks- not 10 points, a small percentage of points like
10% shoold be taken off, that would make it equall as morton
said taking off 10 points wouldnt upset someone with a lot
of points...

tibbar- eh?
