you have to use copy to folder if you select the files and
right click them, and you need quicktime of course.

Want to see.. Want to see.. :(
I just read two giant previews in Computer Gaming World and
PC Gamer. Valve's engine is capable of rendering individual
particles of dust and hair floating about in the air... and
that's just icing. At the core there's things like the
meticulously detailed damage decals and realworld physics
emulation(I wonder if you'll return to Xen). There's ample
reason to be impressed here...
I wish I were a cutting edge graphics engine.

Don't go to Xen, I've been there...

I read in an interview that gordon freeman will not return
to xen, and tbh I'm really happy about that.
You just have to see how the new physics engine works,
totally droolworthy! Looks like you can manipulate just
about any object in the game this time!
Did any of you guys have problems with D/L'ing the .mov
files or?

I'm telling you, yo're seriously missing out on things here!
I'm actually glad I recently downloaded quicktime or I
wouldn't have been able to watch this awesomeness

time to upgrade?

offline Cabbog from Chautauqua (United States) on 2003-05-19 13:48 [#00705600]

I'd say. I've got a Compaq Presario(yeach!) 200 mhz with 48
megs of RAM and *MMX* technology. The last game I could run
with any amount of decency was the original Half Life.
After that things started bottoming out fast.

well I'd feel good about waiting that long on
upgrading, cuz then it'll be a whole new world if you
purchase even a "low-end" model of today's standards!
After seeing those vids of hl2 i was like:
ok, I just got to have me a geforce fx5900 or ati radeon
9800 pro vidcard ,asap!
and a cheap processor upgrade, amd athlon xp 2800+ (got a
1800+ now)

Yeah, I reckon I'll start saving as soon as I get a job.
I'll need to do a lot of research too.. I figure the best
and least expensive method is to build it from scratch. I'm
sure it's not the daunting task it seems.

ok they've added the complete 650mb video now in good
quality. Totally amazing, it blows DOOM3 right out the water

Wow.
Finally saw the video and it looks
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Getting a new computer is definately top
priority now.

told ya so :D
this kicks DOOM3's ass anyday I tell ya.
I saw the trailer for that DOOM3 and I was rather
disappointed how they made the story almost like resident
evil :(

mess around with the link, take some dir's off the link and
somewhere in there are 1 or 2 halflife vids. I can't get in
there anymore either but I looked around and they still had
a few of 'em.

fortress 2*cough*

:)

It's slated for a september release. They've been working
on it since the release of the original(4 years ago) and the
movies definately show it to be in fine working order.
There were rumors that Team Fortress 2 would actually BE the
multiplayer component of Half-Life 2. Now wouldn't that be
something?

what, do you 'reckon' (per anglo and american anglophilic
parlance) kind of minimum system specs would be required for
running something like hl2 or doom 3 ?

will a pentium 4 1.5 ghz gateway w/ the video card it came
with suffice?

any tentative/definite release dates for either one of these
projects?

where else can I see this video? this link isn't working for
me

they claimed to have it running on as little as a pIII
700mhz, but then of course ur losing out on all the
graphical lushness as shown in the droolworthy vids. So in
order to get ur gfx up to par with the vids I reckon u need
a state of the art gfx card( read ati radeon9800 or the
latest geforce fx) and a decent cpu, like say 2ghz+
