problems with MP3 in my PC

everytime I listen to my mp3 files sooner or later the pc
crashes... it just stops "breathing" and I have to restart
it again

this happens sooner or later 90% of the times I listen to my
mp3 files

I use windows media player, and for this reason I changed to
winamp, but the same thing hapened, so I am back with media
player

what is it?
what must I do?

I would uninstall Winamp, then uninstall the sound card
drivers, then reboot, reinstall the sound card drivers, then
reinstall Winamp and whatever other sound apps you use.

If you have lots of crap running in the background like
RealAudio quickstart and that kind of shit, shut it down.

And yes, run something like adaware to clear out spyware and
trojans. It goes without saying that you need a good virus
scanner. I recommend nod32. Avoid McAfee and Norton because
they sux0rz.

Ooooh! Also maybe a good time to update / reinstall DirectX.

- undo the thing you did when the problems started (if you
can remember what you did)
- update your audiodrivers/select different output driver
- look for hardware deviceconflicts in
configuration-->system
- scan for virusses
- maybe your RAM or processor is damaged (happened to me
once and it crashed all the time :( )

good luck

Something I just found out is that Winamp and Sonique, and I
guess Windows Media playr though I haven't tried, like to
have a large DMA buffersize set for your sound card. I keep
mine at 1024 for lower latency in Cakewalk and Cubase but I
get clicks and pops in Winamp unless I set it much higher or
tell my soundcard driver "use windows MME default". I've
never heard of computers crashing due to buffersize but ya
never know...

perhaps you should try and reinstall your media player
first...
