I just read "Survivor" by Chuck Palahniuk, the author of
"Fight Club".

What an amazing book, you should read it if you liked "Fight
Club" or are interested in satire and/or death cults.

Jarworski do indeed love Chuck :D

I think Survivor is brilliant, just like all his other books
really (aside from Invisible Monsters). It just has such an
imaginative storyline. What's interesting about Palahniuk is
that he's progressing, diversifing. Unlike some of his
contemperaries (Bret Easton Ellis) he's not satisfied to
stick with the same formula/genre (although each of his
books start at the end - noticed that?) and so Lullaby is a
horror novel done in his style. His new books sound
extremely promising and since he's into a lot of the same
horror novelists as I am (Ira Levin to name one), I'm
looking forward to them immensely!

You should check out his site here if you haven't
already, as it tells you what books are coming out (and
about them) and also gives you the REAL ending of
Survivor. Good stuff.

I LOVED lullaby. That and choke are the only ones I've read
by chuck.

I'd like to read invisible monsters, but jar's kinda put me
off it

when will Lullaby be available as a paperback? i've read
choke and survivor, will read fight club last since i "know
the story" from the film (no matter how different it is on
screen).

Choke is probably my favourite.

Jar: Cheers for the heads up re: the real ending to
survivor

Tits: Fight Club isn't that different from the film really,
you're not missing much.

"and also gives you the REAL ending of
Survivor.
"

I'm having trouble finding the REAL ending on the site... ?
can someone be a little more specific as to where I can find
it? do I need to register?

you know, i didn't think invisible monsters wasn't worth the
read at all. it is an interesting first effort; there's
really a style to it.

and i think you are actually missing a lot if you don't read
fight club. it made me appreciate the movie more, anyhow.
it's a great adaptation. i wonder what i would have thought
if i had read the book before the movie came out: i wish i
had!

the funny thing about chuck palahniuk is that he is huge and
muscular and wears tight shirts. i went to a bookstore
reading type deal here in madison, and he read from choke
(because it had just come out on paperback or something, i
dont really know, the book had been out for a year or so).
afterwards, he was signing books, but i had to race out
because i parked illegally and was in no mood for tickets.
i had a friend give him my book while i booked it to my car,
and chuck wrote "Mimi - you can park anywhere you want."

Invisable Monsters was the book I was trying to remember in
the god discussion because of the great TV/God Annalogy.
