sorry if this has been discussed before.... just saw a bmw
advert with a boc tune (kid for today)...and wondered if you
could name a few you know from them or other artists we
like....and do you think the artist looses in credibility?
i dont know about the artist but i dont think it ever
does the song justice......

autechre: volkswagen
BOC : BMW
Aphex : pirelli (bank adverts too i think)

Good answer!

Aphex: Kesson Daslef was used on the adverts for "Girl Cops"
on Sky. Greatly decreased the amount I enjoy the track as I
now think of the trailer when I hear it rather than my own
imagery :(

sheet I dunno... must be very tempting, and some artists get
their big break through an advert. but it still sucks
sometimes. Hendrix was used on a car advert, with clips of
him playing as well which was a bit much.

I wouldn't go doing a Moby, and license every single song...
but one or two, yes I would... hey, it's an easy way to make
money which would help you finance making more music...
plus, it would help get your name out there...

Well I don't watch TV so it doesn't really effect how I view
the track or the artists. As long as it doesn't disrupt the
artists artistic integridy then I think it's fine to use a
song for a commercial.

Well considering that a good number of people now download
all this music, it's tough to fault the artists (or record
companies) for selling their work to make some cash. I
can't say I like it, but I understand it.

licensing tracks is key my friends.
esp with all the dling on slsk...
it's xtra $$ for the artists.
