Do you want to your laptop as a sort of live fx pedal for it or for editing recorded guitar stuff?

about recording is the quality of the mic very important?i have a crappy mic and the sound becomes really flat but i think this is for the digital process.
because when i rec on tape the sound has much more depth

the mic quality sure as hell makes a difference - I found soundforge to be better than Cool Edit for "cleaning" up the sound, but still, you'd want a reasonably expensive mic for quality :)

probably between £50 and £100 (sterling) will get you a semi-decent mic -- I don't know what that is in lira! :)

yes in fact the things i've recorded are pretty lo fi i have to separate some tracks.the problem is that i recorded some session i did with my akai loop recorder pedal(TOTALLY KICK ASS PEDAL,YOU HAVE NO IDEA) and they're good but a bit messy in places.i think i'll re-record the part separated and work on single track with soundforge.

I'd get some kind of DI box or if you wanna splash the cash get an amp simulator like a behringer v-amp or digitech genesis 3 to give you a direct line into your laptop....
For software use something like reaktor or audiomulch for some realtime effect mangling and recording.

if you are interested in some inspiration...
check out kieth fullerton whitman...
his albums "playthroughs" was basically all done with a guitar, proccessed through his laptop... beautiful drone, minimalistic ambience.
lush as hell.

keith fullerton whitman (aka hrvatski) is one talented guy, haven't heard much k.f.w. stuff, but swarm & dither is magnificient, although a tad more than just guitar at times.
