no, no, this isn't Mutek... this is 3 wicked artists' way of
makin' me cry for skippin' my damn town... i'd go to the
vancouver show... but the drinking age there is 19, so i'm
six months too young (!!!)... on that note... to all you
edmonton people... we gotsta agitate this scene (or
lackthereof) so these guys will consider coming back here...
when i say this, i really have no idea what i want people to
do... other than to spend extensive time explaining to your
friends how shitty pop bars are, and turning your friends on
to aphex... as for the concert itself... those who do get
to see it will probably get to see Dan Snaith (manitoba)
jam with a 10 piece band, four tet i don't know about, but i
do know that Prefuse rocks his mpc like a madman, he's the
best thing i've seen live to date... and as for mutek (the
other wicked concert i won't be going to): Tim Hecker,
Monolake, Plastikman, POLE, Telefon Tel Aviv, COIL, Sixtoo,
Philip Jeck, probably some other decent Canadian acts
(Deadbeat, probably Mitchell Akiyama under whatever name
he's recording with now,...), AND: A MEGO ROOM!
(@$(^#$^!!!!) you gots your Kevin Drumm, Hecker (the psycho
noisy one), Farmer's Manual, Pita, and Tojiko Noriko...
if half these names isn't enough to make you want to hop a
plane to montreal... well you must be stuck on warp or
something (which is fine but... you should really try
harder...)...

i saw manitoba's live/dj set (he was alone, in oct last
year). he was really good, drums drums drums, some wicked
2step tune, drums, sqeaaking, some hip hop, drums some beach
boys thing and so on. i saw four tet (he was djing) 2 years
and he was ok but nothing special, the gig was really bad
promoted, venue was empty, so he's not one to blame.
