Ok, so I'm listening to Genesis, and some of these lyrics
are pretty twisted!!

These are from a song called The Return of the Giant
Hogweed!

Turn and Run,
Nothing can stop them,
Around every river and canal their power is growing.
Stamp them out,
We must destroy them.
They infiltrate each city with their thick
dark warning odour.

They are invincible,
They seem immune to all our herbicidal battering.

Long ago in the Russian hills,
A Victorian explorer found the regal Hogweed by a marsh,
He captured it and brought it home.
Botanical creature stirs, seeking revenge.
Royal beast did not forget.
He came home to London,
And made a present to the Hogweed to the Royal Gardens at
Kew.

Waste no time,
They are approaching.
Hurry now, we must protect ourselves and find some shelter.
Strike by night,
They are defenseless.
They all need the sun to photosensitize their venom.
Still they're invincible,
Still they're immune to all our herbicidal battering.

Fashionable country gentlement had some cultivated wild
gardens,
In which they innocently planted the Giant Hogweed
throughout the land.
Botanical creature stirs, seeking revenge.
Royal beast did not forget.
Soon they escaped, spreading their seed, preparing for an
onslaught, threatening the human race.

Mighty Hogweed is avenged.
Human bodies soon will know anger.
Kill them with your Hogweed hairs
HERACLEUM MANTEGAZZIANI

Giant Hogweed Lives!

Mad At Gravity don't have half bad lyrics...
i still swear they're anything BUT prog-rock, but can't
argue with critics...

Us and Them (Waters, Wright) 7:40

Us, and them
And after all we're only ordinary men.
Me, and you.
God only knows it's noz what we would choose to do.
Forward he cried from the rear
and the front rank died.
And the general sat and the lines on the map
moved from side to side.
Black and blue
And who knows which is which and who is who.
Up and down.
But in the end it's only round and round.
Haven't you heard it's a battle of words
The poster bearer cried.
Listen son, said the man with the gun
There's room for you inside.

"I mean, they're not gunna kill ya, so if you give 'em a
quick short,
sharp, shock, they won't do it again. Dig it? I mean he get
off
lightly, 'cos I would've given him a thrashing - I only hit
him once!
It was only a difference of opinion, but really...I mean
good manners
don't cost nothing do they, eh?"

Down and out
It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about.
With, without.
And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about?
Out of the way, it's a busy day
I've got things on my mind.
For the want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died.

(Seems apporpos for the times...) :)

I'm not a big prog rock fan, but my friend who is, loves
these lyrics by Rush.

"Witch Hunt"

The night is black
Without a moon
The air is thick and still
The vigilantes gather on
The lonely torch lit hill

Features distorted in the flickering light
The faces are twisted and grotesque
Silent and stern in the sweltering night
The mob moves like demons possessed
Quiet in conscience, calm in their right
Confident their ways are best

The righteous rise
With burning eyes
Of hatred and ill-will
Madmen fed on fear and lies
To beat and burn and kill

They say there are strangers who threaten us
In our immigrants and infidels
They say there is strangeness too dangerous
In our theaters and bookstore shelves
That those who know what's best for us
Must rise and save us from ourselves

Quick to judge
Quick to anger
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand...

Any dreamtheatre or queensryche or rush track. They are all
overly pretentious. You take too much trouble transcribing
Genesis lyrics, Funkmaster.

genesis is now progressive rock? *makes puzzled expression

last time I checked it was just good solid pop music

Genesis only went pop when Phil Collins took over... listen
to some Peter Gabriel Genesis from the 70's, and even the
first two albums of theirs with Phil Collins at the lead and
it's prog rock...
