I love their music

above all till 1980. talking about this on soulseek I just
felt like starting a thread...

I will start mentioning "death on two legs"

they did some genious melodies and some incredible albums

for me it is:

queen II (black queen is la hostia)
a day at the races (millionare waltz...)
a night at the opera (we all know which one here...)

Haha, this looks familiar, deja vu...

Yeah, I love them, Freddy Mercury was a MERCURIAL performer.
I love their production style... larger than life,
bombastic, and flamingly homosexual. A Night at the Opera
and Sgt. Pepper are the earliest albums I can remember
listening to, my mom had them on vinyl (and I scribbled all
over the white Night at the Opera sleeve, it's ruined).

larger than life, bombastic, and flamingly
homosexual.

That's made ironic by the fact that two of their most
popular songs, "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions"
are big-time, classic sports anthems.

;)

i REALLY like Queen, i thought Mercury's voice was just
AMAZING.....what range, and so original.

i was sad at his passing, because i woulda liked to have
seen them JUST ONCE in concert, but i guess that era had
already passed me by =/

i think i own their greatest hits (it's been a while since i
listened) but their music is fun, and i loved the
outrageousness of their preformances!!!

i mean who can't recite THIS:

*sings*

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see

*waynes world....party on* t hee

Invisible Man (The Miracle)
'The Song' (A Night at the Opera)

got to love them.

That's all you ever seem to mention is the Backstreet Boys.
It's getting rather disturbing to be honest, are you trying
to bully Nacmat into making a thread about them out of
spite, just so you can delight in seeing your favourite
band's name on an electronic board? You big sap.

I like that album so much...

brighton rock is great track indeed.
and btw... at the begining of the song ther is a background
sound of a village party... well I think ovuca has that same
sound in one of his tracks in "wasted sunday"

you will love that track cuntychuck... believe me

that album also has:
killer queen, now I am here, the lap of the gods...

omg Queen were really great!!!

or anyone.

and after 1980 which is your favourite?

maybe my favourite is Queen II, but it is as I said between
that one and the marx ones

after 1980, I think I would go for innuendo

queen:
The first album, simply entitled ‘Queen’ was released in
July 1973. The band's first single, ‘Keep Yourself
Alive’, was taken from this album, and it failed to chart
- the only single in their entire career that did.

queen II:
Freddie's love of art surfaced on one track - The Fairy
Fellers Masterstroke was inspired by a painting of the same
name by Richard Dadd, which can now be seen in the Tate
Gallery in London.

That's one of my least favorite albums by them... I still
like it, but's all relative. Like most bands, it's the early
stuff that makes me moist and the later work is just... kind
of a footnote.

I think Jazz is underrated... sooo DON'T. STOP. ME. NOOOOW.

jazz is good... but what tracks do you really like there
there apart from:
fat bottomed girls
bycicle race
dont stop me now
let me entertain you
dreamer´s ball
dead on time

the rest I find them a little weak

I think that the first years (till 1976) were really some of
the best eras for a band that I know...

I mean:
queen, queen II, sheer heart attack, a night at the opera
and a day at the races...

5 great albums in a row... excellent

then news of the world, jazz and the game where also very
very good, but had some filler tracks in my opinion, even
though those have some of the best singles

I also love the flash soundtrack

A few of the songs are a little too glossy for my taste...
but the rest are divine perfection. The first 6
tracks(minus the 5th one) are really the guts of the album.
Download and listen to the following :
1. It's A Beautiful Day (Queen) 2:32
2. Made In Heaven (Mercury) 5:26
3. Let Me Live (Queen) 4:46
4. Mother Love (May/Mercury) 4:49
6. I Was Born To Love You (Mercury) 4:49
11. It's A Beautiful Day (Reprise) (Queen) 3:01

They should manufacture a carpet sample mimicking the
texture of his chest in honor of the Mercury legacy.
Imagine going to Home Depot and running your fingers through
that..
*sigh
Nothing's been the same since Freddie died.
:(

As for Roger Taylor's lyrical mastery... It's kinda hard
not to relate ain't it?

The machine of a dream
Such a clean machine
With the pistons a pumping
And the hub caps all gleam

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When my hand's on your grease gun
Oh it's like a disease son

I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
Get a grip on my boy racer rollbar
Such a thrill when your radials squeal

Told my girl I'll have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburetor
So she made tracks saying
This is the end now
Cars don't talk back
They're just four wheeled friends now

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When I'm cruising in overdrive
Don't have to listen to no run of the mill talk jive

I'm in love with my car
Gotta feel for my automobile
I'm in love with my car
String back gloves in my automolove

Yeah, Jazz is a bit top-heavy and has some filler... but the
good stuff is sooooo good.

You're right, some of those 70's albums are all killer-no
filler.

And I'm all for some ''Mercury Carpet''! My mom would give
it two thumbs up as well, I know she wanted to ''un-gay''
Freddie.
