Silly fucking stupid bastard. A live set via the laptop
that lasted 40 minutes to a chinstroking crowd that didn´t
do the lack of dancey grooves any good.

A "Pause" track was being intro-ed, the guitary samples just
about to give way to the big beats when some girl passed a
note to him and he stopped the track and played something
else! What a letdown all round. As soon as he stopped, they
piped crappy commerical dance music into the venue for the
friday night regular wank-fodder. Total arse except for the
fact that the 2 laptop act on before, "Icarus", palyed a
stormer of a set... LP5-type Autechre with jungle undertones
is the best way to describe it! Check em out if ya can

well.... go see anyway. i think it had a bit to do with
where he played.... a crappy venue. He did play a stormer
here last year and he´s giving away "rounds" frisbees too!

wow i'm kinda surprised by this review.......i guess i
expected more than 40 minutes.....plus it sounds not very
professional stopping in the middle of a song and playing
something else just cos someone requested it.....weird...

Hey kids, long time no see:

Thought I'd give my 2 cents and disappear again.

Saw 4T and Boom Bip in Vancouver...
Impressed with Boom Bip, really impressed!
Fouttet needs to figure out what playing live is really
about. He wasn't even really knob twiddling, just kinda
slightly adjusting, you know, tweaking them really self
indulgently and not really doing anything interesting. And
the sound system SUCKED so the subtlety of his smaples and
effects were fucking blown out the back door! I was like he
took his tracks, put them through an old meat grinder, and
then picked through it all to find the shards of bone that
might slice up our insides of we were to dare swallow it
all.

But I still like the albums.

And Boom Bip was smashing, really.

And I'm gone again...

no!
i would say cash in that ticket or sell it
worst show i've seen all year.
Boom Bip was good though.
might be worth going just to see that.

and i don't think it's just the sound system.
chop suey here in seattle has really good sound but it
didn't help him.

where did he play in vancouver? was it at sonar? that
place has a wicked sound system.

prefuse was fantastic.. zeus started a thread talking about
the prefuse/four tet/manitoba show in boston a few weeks ago

but yeah, four tet's live show was kinda boring.. at the
time i thought i wasnt enjoying it because my legs were
tired from standing and walking all day, but then prefuse
came on and i didnt notice my legs anymore.. so i guess that
must not have been it...
