im having troubles with playing audio cds on my comp- the thing is i cant play it with any audio players, i can play it with dvd player tho (its a dvd rom)
and i can also play 100th window which has its own player i can play mp3s with all the audio players...
im all out of ideas

Are they original CD's you have bought fom the shop? If this is the case then it is probably the new copy protection stuff.

i cant play any cd and they are all originals im having this problem for the last 2 days it was working normal before

its a dvd drive...and it is reading data and also avi files which are working normal with sound and everything
it just wouldnt play audio cds

And why you play an audio CD do the software players refuse to play the files, or does it appear to play but without any sound?

ok, check your cable connections from the soundcard to the speakers, check your speakers (maybe swap them with others, or headphones to check they've not got knackered). Check the volume/properties in the sound mining control panel thing. Perhaps check that the cable that connects the DVD drive to the soundcard (internally) hasn't popped out somehow (unlikely, but you never know).

hmm, i just tried everything - it doesnt work on headphones either.
everything else seems to be in order, what is strange is that i can listen to audio cds with powerDVD but not witn normal players like winamp or winmediaplayer

Well I'm stumped. If it was working fine two days ago, then stopped, you must've done something to change it around that time. Maybe something was installed/uninstalled/reconfigured that screwed windows a bit?

nothing that i can think of...but i havent reinstalled windows for at least a year now - so perhaps its not that weird :)
