Why hasn't there been one yet? Usually this place has topics on all the new releases i'm interested in :-)
But ehr... this album is really great. Actually i haven't bought it yet, but my brother has... so i've been borrowing it from him... and i can't stop listening to it!! It's so good! The tracks produced by norman cook don't sound nothing like fatboy slim at all. It's mostly a soft/experimental type of album. "out of time" was quite representative i think (altough some of the songs (crazy beat!) rock pretty hard).
Sadly my brother comes home from his trip tonight, and i suspect he'll be wanting to listen to it :-o
So i'll have to buy this album for myself this week.
The limited edition digipack is pretty funny... it's like blur want to be radiohead now. It looks so much like amnesiac it's scary!

The track produced by william orbit does sound very typically "orbit-ish" though. All those familiar sounds he always uses... it's getting kind of old. But still a good song.

"it's like blur want to be radiohead now. It looks so much like amnesiac it's scary!""
I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT THE ARTWORK THOUGH!! :-p
Seeing as it's a red booklet, with all the lyrics done with a typewriter... and lots of handwritten stuff and little sketchy drawings....
Maybe the normal version of the cd looks less like radiohead ;-)

this album is really weak, i borrowed it from a friend from school and it has absoltely no flow. tracks 1,2,4,11 are good but the rest pretty much sucks. that crazy beat song is ridiuclously bad as is weve got a file on you and number 12 makes me want to break the cd in half.

I think the album is really good. Especially since it's the kind that starts out OK, but gets better and better each time you listen.

Phew, i'm glad you like it so far! (i would have felt incredibly guilty for recommending you a cd you didn't like ;-)).
I never actually bought the gorillaz-album, but i must say i liked all the singles they released. One of these days i'm gonna buy that album.
"(whether you like it or not hehe) "
Ha! Don't worry, i'd like that ;-) It'll be interesting to read your opinion. I myself still can't get enough of this album... it's one of the best releases this year for sure. I just discovered there's also a secret track on it (rewind from zero to hear it). But it's... the only not-so-good song on the album imo :-) Glad they hid it so i don't have to listen to it everytime.
"that crazy beat song is ridiuclously bad"
Are you mad?! That song is awesome! Already the first time i heard it i was like: "whoa... what is this? This rocks!". It's also their new single... this could become their "Song #3", it's that good!

1. trippy dubby - imo that trombone (not sure what it is hehe) is not neccessary, but it doesnt spoil the song either
2. i like this one a lot-damon sings nice in this one, nice melody, and i love that acoustic guitar
3. nice uptempo punkish one 4. i this one is to impress the girls 5. this one is excellent-i love dub sounds and the synth sound
6. wow, blues and old pop like? dont like this one that much...
7. i like this one a lot-distorted damons voice fits nice into this one
8. oriental-rock combo, wild... 9. i love that sound that plays at 2.10 10. another great one! i love piano lately 11. great combo of bass guitar and blues (slide) guitar? nice
12. it starts nice, a little disapointing later on 13. very melancholic tune - just right for the kind of mood im in (its a bit alike sigur ros at times), i like this one a lot!
it is a wonderful album, i prefered some others released this year, but im definitely happy i bought it - i read some nice reviews + surrounded recommended it (thank you)
so everyone...get it! :D

i really didn't like that "crazy beat".. it seems too repetitive for my tastes, and that robot-sounding voice and the whole "yea yea yea" thing really rubs me in the wrong way. they could have least given it a crazy beat.. but to each his/her own.. and i might like the rest of the album possibly..i never usually like the singles for a lot of bands..

comparing band to band is usually silly....but when compared to Radiohead's stuff.....this album sounds way more fresh, way less serious less pompoueous etc. Albarn's singing style sounds cool, compared to Yorke's moaning. This album makes me want to hum. and it sounds like it was made in cool, relaxed studio conditions. while Radiohead albums mean SOMETHING and are SERIOUS cause those guys are against things and stuff. I don't say it's bad cause yeah, earth is already fucked, human kind is doomed, climate changes are here and we can feel them more and more every year.....but when you need a nice little album to chill on the weekend....."think tank" = win !
