OK....I know nacmat can't get enough of Bluff Limbo, but
does anyone else have an opinion on this album that I would
have to pay thru the nose for online?

I'll listen to your rant nacmat - I like your taste in
music.

Many artists in my arsenal of IDM have a "bridging" album,
that kind of fills the gap between style changes (if they
change styles).
Mikey P just when from techno riffs (Tango N'Vectif, Bluff
Limbo, and In Pine Effect), and then suddenly switched over
to drill n' bass style. Am I missing something?
I listened to a bit of In Pine Effect, and wasn't too
impressed.

I am amazed! how do you know I love it????

anyway... I will make some argumentation:

for me the best uziq is the one from the first years... this
is tango n vectif and bluff limbo... I also like lunatic
harness and royal astronomy (more drill n bass with
melodies) but this first releases, more old school, have an
incredible quality. maybe bluff limbo is a bit darker than
tango, kind of more quiet, more relaxed... but for me these
two are totally genious. depending on my mood I prefer one
or the other.

bluff limbo creates nice atmospheres, sometimes repetitive
but in a good way, with a nice aproach to melodie as part of
the music but never as the leader of a track.... very good
release (double cd btw and I prefer the second one which is
even the deeper)

Thanks nacmat, I've always agreed with your musical choices.

Canadian music stores have a terrible tendency of not
carrying anything off the rephlex label. It looks like I'll
be buying it online. Any suggestions?

mymusic.com seems to have pretty reasonable rates and
shipping fees. What's your opinion?

I own most of all µ-ziqs releases. Bluff limbo is a nice
one indeed. I cant tell you if you'll love it because I have
no idea what you consider "good". Nacmats review is dead on.
This is a must have if you are a µ-ziq fan.

"Nacmats review is dead on. "

is that good or bad?

Bluff Limbo is a pretty good cd in my estimation. I don't
think it's his best release, but I do like it. Some of the
tracks are CLASSIC, like Sick Porter Ethereal Murmerings,
and Twangle Frent.

If you like Bluff Limbo, check out Spatula Freak by his
alias Kid Spatula. It's similar, but more towards In Pine
Effect from what I've heard about it (not owning In Pine
Effect, one of the few Mike P. releases I don't have). You
have to get Spatula Freak on ebay, as I just have, because
it's oop. Worth the pickup though.

I have tango n'vectif, lunatic harness, and royal astronomy.
I assume that bluff limbo is closest to tango n'vectif?

Yes, by far of what you have. It's the "next step" from
Tango n Vectif. A very slight evolution. Longer and more
epic songs. A little more thoughtful, I guess.

similar.

I downloaded this sucker today (bringing the number of CD-R
albums in my collection to 2) and I'm still trying to put my
finger on it.
Bluff certainly has a "zannier" edge. It doesn't have that
majestic beauty that tango n'vectif had, but it is still
very interesting. Chalk full of loops and repetition - kind
of exhausting at times.
I think I'll keep Bluff as CD-R and spend my money on
bilious paths.

Just listen to Bluff some more and you'll realise it is a
great, one of the best, mu-ziq albums.

After doing a search, I've discovered that only about 5
people recommend bluff limbo. Plenty about lunatic harness,
tango n'vectif, and royal astronomy.
I get the impression that there is a bluff limbo cult who is
just trying to add me to their little list.
If bluff was really that good, I would expect more than 3
people to come in here and post something decent about it.

See....now I'm just talking to myself. People see "bluff
limbo good?" say "no" in their heads, and keep on scanning
for a good topic.

Its a different direction for mike, which isn't a bad thing,
just different. Disc 2 is more ambient than disc 1.
