Can't it be that Ae has real high standars and because of their older great releases we start expecting too much and because of these high expectations less appreciate the goodness of the CD?

Ae are clueless as to how most fans feel about their music. i think their ambition is all about progression, not making a statement on how complex they can make their music.

I don't like how they are starting to think ... uh, poetic... trying to interpret the sound as abstract metaphor or something... they mentioned reading philosophy and it seems influenced by that... it started with confield... like bringing in some weird abstract gurgle sound. I prefer the older lp5/ep7 which were about organized chaos and weird controlled randomness or something, more than what they're doing currently. I might grow to like the new stuff more, but I loooooove the old stuff. (andthe track bike is one of the few I like of the old OLD stuff)

indeed...but a diet of Coke & Chocolate all the time leads where exactly?...
Take time to savour things rather than dismiss so easily, that's my basic message...people take a lifetime discovering the joys of fine wines, art, building etc...why not do the same with our culture?....
Palates need training....your senses are ALWAYS A WORK IN PROGRESS....if not, you might as well be dead...(likewise with this constant nostalgia...fuck that...we live for the future, not the past...)...

I'm not sure if it'll become a masterpiece in 6 months. I'm biased in favor of ep7 and lp5 because they were the first albums I ever heard of such a detailed amazing computed nature.. but I would almost definately like them more even if they were released at the same time as draft. They're painstakingly realized aural masterpieces, being very picky in what can be classified as masterpiece too. It's weird that they suddenly released two long amazing albums close together in time.. I wonder if it took a huge amount of time to create them, and then they released them all at once... if it really takes so long to create such detailed wizardry, like if such creation is the culmination of a half a life's work, then it's not likely that they'll be able to top it in a few years of work. I'm not sure how the creation process works though.

"it's just comments like "not bad, but not amazing either."

perfect signs of the consumers paradise society has fallen to - it has to be immediately AMAZING or its disappointing.
what would be deemed "amazing" can then only be defined AFTER something is found to be amazing.

I do get annoyed with all this criticism about artists repeating certain things... so what... I try to enjoy albums for what is on them, not how what is on it compares to the artists other work... if I listen to a piece of music, and enjoy it, that's enough for me... I don't really care if so and so progressed a certain amount since their last album... and it is true about first impressions... with music, they aren't always right... at first I love Draft 7.30... then I found it boring... then last night I listened, and enjoyed it... same with lots of other albums I've bought... I try to give albums time before forming opinions about them... I've had albums which I've hated for months, and even years in some cases, after buying, and then all of a sudden I've started to love them... I guess it just depends on the mood you listen to music... I think I can enjoy any type of music, if I listen to it in the right mood... the really good music however can appeal to me in most moods...

Not many records are amazing - they are only a few.
For me Draft 7.30 is more than the music itself, it's the whole concept. I imagine some kind if digital organism moving around in outer space, exploring new worlds. Each track represents a new world. The wonderful abstract cover just adds to that feeling. Knowing this is Sean and Rob newest addition to electronic music is very exciting.
You have to put some efforts into certain records, you just cant download mp3s and play in winamp using your crappy computer speakers and think "what the hell is this"? It's completely out of the context.
It's a HUGE different to play MASK 100 mp3s without knowing it's history and the rumous around it - from actually having a visual contact with the 12" spinning on your turntable - a record from the mysterious SKAM label.
Well, thats just my point of view. Maybe I'm too much INTO electronic music and it's actual surroundings.
Taking a look at the poll, the "general concensuson" over Draft 7.30 is next to "Excellent".

I agree with jand (and I think I sometimes have pointed this out) that it is still to sson to know... we have really to listen to draft a load more times in diferent moods and situations, as background and in headphones.... lots and lots of times during some months till we can really be sure that we have let it tresspas our skin

reflex: for one, your tantrum is disappointing... learn to take criticism.
for another, the only reason you would post such a thought is to either have people validate or negate your opinion... in which case, the boring redundancy of what i guess you would call a "conversation" has taken place. in plain english: if you didn't want this kind of reaction (from both angles) then why would you post the initial thought?

I dont like it very much and I never will, It wont grow on me, it wont just one day suprise me and Ill say wow that was great, I DONT LIKE IT. Fuck critcism, its my opinion. Anyone can like whatever they want, or not like it. I enjoy how I cant say I dont like a CD, and all of a sudden you get like half the population here trying to tell the other half that doesnt like it that we should try harder, or take criticism better, or we are being negative, or dont bring it up at all, what bullshit.
