Satanstornade

I got a promo copy of this ages ago. I've only just got
round to listening to it.

Oh man, is it bad!

Did they just hook a mic and record static from the TV? It's
just static. Nothing more, nothing less.

Needless to say, I won't be playing it again in a hurry.

Does any one like it? Can anyone explain it to me?

i like it a lot...i liked it since i first heard it
its not the music i'd be playing to often but when i do i
love it
perhaps if you would check merzbow you would appreciate
satanstornade a bit more because that music make even less
sense :)

i like it too, i think it's even a bit more accesible than
akita's solo merzbow stuff

'unlock the..' is a great journey through noise imo :)

I sold this on eBay this week, just didn't like it. That's
not to say I don't like noise though because I have serveral
Merzbow albums.

However, I will defend it from the accusation that it's
'just static. Nothing more, nothing less'. You're mixing up
noise and noisey, the former has structure and the latter
does not. Satanstornade is quite clearly structured.

I suspect that just as all country music sounds the same to
me, all noise will sound the same to you ;)

the harsh black goo of 'Fend Off Your Miserable Grief'...
the ray of sun shining through an old defect psychotic fast
factory in 'Unlock The Mysteries Of The Sun'...
the blue-green-purple weird metal machine with factory wind
of 'Track 5', with green monitors...
the blood and outside grey-green device, out in the desert,
of 'Testicular Fortitude'...

just drug your mind and you'll understand!! ; )

it's always the same with noise, you can consider it as
stupid crappy static, nothing more, charlatanism, don't even
dare calling it music it is just crap, but you can also
consider there is more in this that meets the ear, and it is
just fully abstract music that needs a lot of time to be
appreciated....

just like some very simplistic modern art, you may never
know whether it is meant to have a real value or not - an
artist simply paints a blue circle on a white blackground
and nothing more, some can say it is great and a
masterpiece, some will say it is just crap and anyone could
do better than this. and what is the truth (?), what the
artist do think of his work, you may never know! : )

That's a pretty decent defence but... I'm sticking with the
static TV theory ; P

I've not had time or cash to pick up satanstornade yet but i
got the phthalocyanine album a few months back and only
listened to it bout 3 times. Which is not to say i didnt
like it, but i think serious noise music needs serious
concentration. The first time it just hurt my ears, but
since then it sounds more and more beautiful beneath the
harsh static, reminds me off shostakovich somehow. i dunno,
anyway

how representative is "Fend off your...." for the
genre/artist? because I disliked it...:(

eXXailon > it is representative of the noisyness, but not
really of the quality imo - there isn't much in this
track...

Unlock The Mysteries Of The Sun is much better, for example.
but still noisy.

If noise is defined as uncomfortable
sound, then pop music is noise to me.
