what is eatcarpet?
eatcarpet brings the most unlikely, the occasionally perplexing,
the undeniably provocative but always the BEST short films, videos
and animations to Australian television screens every saturday night of the year.
about eatcarpet....
audiences often ask: "what does eatcarpet mean?"... the easiest answer is that to literally do what the title suggests, that is to 'eat carpet', would seem strange, bizarre, impossible, quirky, tasteless, unheard of...Do these descriptions fit the broad range of short narratives, dance works, animations and experimental documentaries, which are screened on eatcarpet? yes.
This year, eatcarpet celebrates its 13th birthday on Australian television.
As the only regular, weekly timeslot where audiences can watch innovative, experimental and entertaining short films from Australia and around the world, eatcarpet still stands alone.

nope it wasnt that movie. lol glass eater that is a funny one : ) "the idiots" that is a "dogma" movie isnt it?
um my fave part in that is when one of the guys tries to drive the blue van.
lol its bouncing all over the the place.. the idiots also has some great sex scenes in it.
the midget movie was shot in black and white.. it looked oldish maybe 20 years old?? but it can be tricky to tell whith black and white if you do it proply.

maybee older.. could have been made in the 60-early 70's
the weirdest thing about it was that there was no actual plot or script..
it was like they just go a bunch of fun loving midgets took them to this place out in the country and said "go for gold guys". "act as crazy as you want".
freestyle weirdness : )

broken phillip: i think you're talking about Werner Herzog's "Even Dwarfs Started Small"
I didn't think Stroszek was weird, just brilliant.

ok exellent. thanks komakino : ) that sounds about right.
just did a search.. that is the movie thanks a million komakino : ) ---------------------------------------- Description ------------- --Director Werner Herzog's second feature film is a triumph of cinematic irreverence and uncompromising creativity. A cast that's comprised entirely of dwarfs stages an uproarious and chaotic rebellion in a remote and picturesque mountain asylum of undetermined purpose. Shot in harsh yet sumptuous black and white, the film features the upturned idyll of the sanitarium playing host to the erotically obsessed and absurdly acting dwarfs as they create a microcosm of the real world’s ridicules. Unforgettable images, such as a group of blind dwarfs wearing oversize darkened goggles while hobbling along a mountain path and a dwarf couple attempting to consummate their relationship by leaping from a stack of magazines onto the conjugal bed, make EVEN DWARFS STARTED SMALL a thoroughly challenging visual experience as well as a compelling allegory for society and its outcasts. As the visual absurdity of the film reaches a sort of slow-motion fever pitch, Herzog’s innate humanism injects the seemingly inhuman scenario with a deep pathos that captures viewers' attention as well as sympathy.
Synopsis ---------- --Herzog's irreverent film features a cast that's comprised entirely of dwarfs.
Annotation ------------ --EVEN DWARFS STARTED SMALL was banned from Germany, and director Werner Herzog had to distribute the film himself despite various death threats.

EVEN DWARFS STARTED SMALL was initially to be shot in Mexico, but was eventually filmed in the Canary Islands.
Herzog placed an ad in a German paper in order to find someone to make wedding clothes for insects for a scene in the film.
Herzog promised the all dwarf cast of EVEN DWARFS STARTED SMALL, that if they made it through the film unscathed, he would jump into a cactus field, which he eventually did.
---------------------------------------- Release Info: --B&W Film --Year Released: 1971 --RunTime: 96 Min. --Subtitled in English --Release Language: German --Original Language: German -------------------------------------- cool so i was pretty close with the date too : )

okay, i'm really sorry, but this is hands down, the WEIRDEST movie ever, period.
jodorowsky's el topo
scenes that stand out are when el topo (a lone mexican cowboy) riding with his perpetually naked, seven year old son find a cache of women's high-heeled shoes which they fire at/lick. or when they arrive at a bunny farm in the middle of the desert and set it on fire. or when he fights the double-man (a legless amputee mounted atop an armless amputee). or when the priest runs away with the elderly midget grandmother. and so on. i'm not making any of this up.

dang... I'm going to have to go back and peruse this list at length cos I've only read a few but they all sound really dope
but then I am kind of into weird flicks
my favorite flick is Gummo but the weirdest flick I've ever seen is called Julien Donkey Boy, it's actuall really brilliant, it's by the same chap that directed Gummo
(harmony korine. he also wrote Kids which is great) anyway, I've dropped the title of that flick before on this board I know but go see it you bastards.
also, have you ever seen Brewster McCloud? another one of my favorites. holy shit! that movie is flat strange my friends.

How about the whole animal menagerie at the end?!? That was weird. yes the movie was brilliant, but it was the kind of movie where it's very coherent until the last 15 minutes, and then you have to watch it over and over to figure out what the writer was thinking! And that music!!! I love it. I want to make a T-shirt of the scene where Bruno is driving and the old guy is sitting in the passenger seat holding the rifle. I just have to find the movie! (ebay is pricey on this one.)

"Yes, but you fell over. It's a proud man who stands up and smokes a cigarette like that"
"Yeah, but I don't smoke"
"ahhh, you'll learn it."
I love that exchange in Julien Donkey Boy. One of my all time fav movies.

A bunch of old surrealist black & white short films they made us watch in my field production class. The titles are escaping me at the moment.

I'm not sure, kurrrak. One had a woman who was having a dream and she went to all these different places outside. Another took place on a train.
