Im toying around with ideas on the release of my first EP
and im in the process of getting quotes... one of the quotes
i got was for a professionally mastered cassette release
with artwork... i like the idea, coz my favorite formats are
cassette and vinyl... but what do you guys think? would you
buy a cassette? or is it just not worth it in your
opinion... should i stick to a CD release...

ahm i don't see the advantage of tapes over cds, to be
honest? i don't think it would be smart marketing wise, or
maybe because it's cheaper. the last time i bought a tape
was back in 1996 or so :/

what made me think of it is SKAM release a lot of rare
cassettes and such... but yeah... i think its a good idea,
but noone else seems to so i should stop being so stubborn
and accept facts :)

whats so great about cassettes? The only thing I enjoy
listening to on cassettes is old demos from belgian
EBM-bands from the late 80s... the hiss and the noise seem
to interact good with that kind of music

tapes would be awesome and there are quite a few labels that
do tape releases. its now a niche market though so plan for
that.

other wise its not a bad idea.

I like cassettes, there is a 'pirate' feel to them. But I
don't know about a professionally mastered one...

yeah i love tape and vinyl... i think analogue *feels* a lot
better than digital... apparently analogue carries differant
frequencies that digital doesnt (and vice versa) anyone know
any more about this?

if its gonna save ya some cash, go w/the cassette over the

The only thing a cassette is good for is attaching one end
of the tape to a mailbox and driving away really fast.

reminds me. that is something i ought to look into. printing
on the tops of cds.

my handwriting has only so much appeal. :]

well heres what i was thinking, im still waiting on quotes
remember.

i wanna start a label. its my dream etc etc blah blah... but
yeah i wanna do limited cassette releases and i would also
wanna release some artists from this board too... but its
not a cash thing... i would be most happy to break even...
the point would be getting the music out there... i would
hit shops in brisbane and sydney, the rest is out of my
reach...

well of course, if cd's are only a touch more expensive then
they would be cd releases...

definately... i already have a good idea of who i would ask
to be on some releases and Late Nights is definately one of
em :)
+ceri +pocxd +flea +mylittlesister +pomme... and many
more...

i could understand people saying no tho, as they might want
to be on a proper label

if i bought your ep as a cassette i would tape it onto md
and listen to it. md is like a digital cassette recorder
cross with a cd.

i like your cassette idea either way.
