love alfred hitchcock. he's a master of suspense. he thought that style was very important, and also gave a simple analogy of how suspense was far more effective than shock.
"Two men are having a conversation. They are talking about baseball. All of a sudden, a bomb explodes. There is only a ten-second reaction from the audience due to the shock. Now, let's have the same conversation, only this time you show the audience the bomb. What does the audience do? They scream 'Don't talk about baseball! There's a bomb under there!'"
Anyways, i still LOVE Psycho.

i recently saw "the birds" after not having seen it in many years. I found it incredibly dissapointing. mostly because at the end there is given no explaination, no resolution, and no result for the bird invasion. i thought the movie itself had a few chilling scenes, but also, i thought the characters often had un-realistic, or down-right rediculous reactions to the bird attacks. especially during the whole, "don't go upstairs! don't open that door! don't enter the room and close the door behind you! don't turn the knob and let yourself out of the room when the birds attack you!" scene.
my favorite hitchcock so far is probably strangers on a train. or wait, no, psycho. but i haven't seen a lot of his films. I'd still like to see Vertigo. I tried watching Rear Window but got bored and couldn't finish it. so i'd like to give that one another shot as well.
that's all i got to say about hitchcock.
