I got this album today coz my mum (yep) bought it, and
didn't like it. She said she expected it to be more
original. And I have to agree! Its kak! Those who think this
"rocks", have you ever heard The Stooges? Or Johnny
Thunders? Or the Pistols? Or the Rolling Stones? Or
ANYTHING??!! Gah!

OK in the spirit of fairness (?) i'm going to listen to that
track now.

well, it seems to be new trend.
grab and old guitar, buy a 4-track, record your songs,
release it, present yourself like you would look after you
just got up.

i'm not really a fan of all the "the"-bands. (the white
stripes, the strokes, the band, the hives, etc.)

the only exception would be the moldy peaches, I totally dig
their stuff! :)

ball and biscuit is amazing.

girl, you have no faith in medicine is amazing, too.

and yes...i always compare them to all of those you
mentioned, as well. but you hafta admit that it's refreshing
when put up against christina aguilera or...god knows what
else.

I laugh at the band called "The The". They know how to take
the piss.

My friend suggested a "The The" tribute band called "The The
The".

I also laughed at that. However I am a simpleton, so I
probably would laugh if nothing was funny.

Ha Ha Ha Ha, look my hands have fell off.

Listened to it. Pretty darn weak. And i'm not just being
negative for the sake of it.

"grab and old guitar, buy a 4-track, record your songs,
release it, present yourself like you would look after you

i wish more people would do that to be honest.

the moldy peaches are dodgy man :) i think most of their
stuff is just wank but they have the knack at doing wicked
songs like "whos got the crack?" and "NYC is like a
graveyard" (even more excellent post sept 11th)

i'd bone kimya dawnson too ;) in a rabbit costume ;)

yeah, that's true.
i don't say they're bad, I listened to elephant, respect for
what they do (guitar and drums only! ;) and it's pure, no
doubt. just not my cup of tea.

with three drum-pieces? It's limited what you can do with
that!

had.

an energy or something.

i like "de stijl" the most, and "white blood cells" after
that.

I don't hate them per-se, but I mean,
they keep making the same damn album/songs with some slight
gimmicky change. "Oh, for this album we used no digital
recording".

And seeing Meg play drums is laughable

their album was on top of some charts for 2003...i don't
know any of their songs and have no idea what they sound
like...i also don't feel like downloading cos im probably
going to get it anyway (except if someone has some great
argument why i shouldn't).

i see some of you compared them to the strokes...so im
wondering, will i like white stripes if i like the strokes?

he plays teh guitar (on 7 nation army he used an octave
tranposing pedal). and she uses a 4-piece drum set in
certain songs. (kick, snare, crash symbal, and hi-hat)

White Blood Cells was really interesting... a lot of nice
characters brought out by Jack's lyricism... i haven't heard
their older albums extensively, but they sounded okay too...
but Elephant is an overrated piece of shite... Seven Nation
Army is a great song... but they've made the transition from
being some form of unadulterated rock-spirit incarnate to
just some old rock band flogging a damn dead horse... the
vitality disappeared... shit... and Meg White's drumming
(along with most of her contributions to the album... such
as sucky singing) is laughable...

Meg White is hot? Ummm... see, sometimes I just don't
understand the people here... she sure doesn't look hot to
me...

about the music, I liked that remake of the Burt Bachrach
song, What Am I GOing to do with Myself or something...

i dont see any problem with Meg's drumming - its simple and
to the point - it doesnt need to be complicated and fast to
work well with the music.
