there was a huge 3 page article on AFX in this free
somewhat underground type newspaper that runs around the
southside of the city, right down here on the "ave" - so its
a fuckin cool newspaper, not like news youd hear in a
regular paper. Anyways, the article talked a lot about his
past and upbringins and stuff ill try to get that copy and
maybe scan it for this site.

You mean synesthasia? Didn't know he had that (but people
have it to varying degrees- he may have it mildly). It's not
really a "disease" synesthates typically:
are happier,
commit less crime,
have greater skills of memory,
don't consider it an illness- although their maths ability
is typically poor, there are notable exceptions to this
(Vladimir Nabokov for one) and the benefits are usually seen
to outweigh this.

he spent the first fifteen years of his life at the bottom
of a well. he never saw another human or the light of day.
when he climbed out he spent years trying to recover from
the psychological trauma but some say he could never really
adequately develop social skills

Someone said that he some sleeping disorder - I have a small
question about this, but it's off-topic since it concerns
me:
Has anyone else, and please be serious, had a sensation,
when you're about to take a little nap or something like
that, that your body suddenly gets charged with electricity
(like an epileptic episode or something) and that it is
impossible to move?

I've had this in periods since I was about 18 yrs old (am
now 25) and I've not found anyone that seems to have the
same thing. My girlfriend however sometimes wakes up and
can't move a muscle, but she doesn't feel the electrical
surges that I do.

I've read a little about this and it seems that these
strange half awake half asleep states, combined with this
sleep paralysis, is a perfect steppingstone for having a Out
Of Body Experience.
Has anyone here felt these same things while going into or
waking up from sleep?

Here's a "paper" about it:
http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/S_P.html

Yes, his liking maths & chess is what makes me sceptical
that he is a synesthate... mind you Nabokov was a famous
synesthate and an absolutely amazing chess player (read "The
Luzhin Defense" or his autobiography, "Speak, Memory").

JoakimLinden:
My dad suffers from sleep paralysis about once a year on
average. He gets the sensation of presence that typically
accompanies it too.

Where does the "Joakim" in your user name come from BTW?
