next squarepusher ?

I have 'Music Is Rotted One Note' and I love it, and I know
it is NOT a good representation of most of his work.. w/ it
being a largely acoustic, jazzy production. Now, I was a bit
turned off by the noise that is "My Fucking Sound" from 'Do
You Know Squarepusher?' and some negative reviews, and I am
hesitant to pick up 'Go Plastic' for similar (w/ regard to
the latter reason) reasons.

I love everything I've heard from 'Feed Me Wierd Things'
thus far, and I would run out and buy it tomorrow if not for
its very limited quantities and proportionately elevated
price (and, of course, you could count the amount of places
you can actually land a copy with one hand; excluding eBay,
and I'm not going there for this;)

I have heard great things about 'Hard Normal Daddy' but I
have an aversion to all things dated (looking and sounding)
and since the year of its release provides the potential for
its landing in the latter of the two noted parenthetically.
Is this the case? If so, I'll wait to purchase that one, as
I tend to embrace and appreciate electronic artists' earlier
work after becoming acquainted with their newer work; that
which really presents the listener with their unique touch,
since they have come into their own. With Aphex Twin and
Autechre this is the case: I heard (and became familiar
with) Windowlicker and Confield long before say, Selected
Ambient Works 85-92 (the most obvious choice here) and Tri
Repetae, and I don't think I would have been so zealous
about either artist if the circumstances were reversed. SO,
what's your synopsis of 'Hard Normal Daddy' in this regard?

I'm thinking of getting the EP with the Squarepusher fish
[>[]] next, but feel free to try and change my mind
on this one.

basically FMWT and HND are brilliant jazzy drum'n'bass
albums
MIRON is a brillaint weirdo jazz album
Budakhan Mindphone is laidback jazz with short spurts of
acid
Go Plastic and DYKS are mindblowingly brilliant cut-up
fucked-up uzi'n'bass with a couple of great "pop" songs

and well Selection Sixteen isn't too great :-D

Go Plastic is worth hearing, worth buying; FMWT is good too
but I prefer his other stuff.

I really would like to hear the rest of Buzz Caner, that was
some crazy shit.

oh so he does have more jazz-prevalent albums?

Budakhan Mindphone is definitely more jazzy, I thought most
was forgettable, except for the first track, Iambic 5
Poetry...my favorite SP track. Go Plastic has jazz elements
to it, it's a good blending of his styles.

music is one rotted note is totally acoustic jazz.. the only
computer involvement took place, most likely, in
post-production.. very interseting album

By view is Rotted One Note is his best release. HND and
FMWT are his next best releases. BM is a very weak fusion
of MIRON and his earlier work. Selection 16 is largely
forgettable with the exception of the Ceephax mix for the
last track which I personally rate as one of my altime
favourite tracks. I didn't like Go Plastic at all and his
latest release I liked even less. The other stuff he has
done is,in my opinion, average.

last night the power went out, so i decided to put
'selection sixteen' on my discman, and i just sat and
listened to it on headphones alone in the dark all the way
through, and i think it's my favorite squarepusher now.
you can really see how he went from the stuff on 'selection
sixteen' to go plastic.

Yes...he thought...people bought that peice of shit I will
make more shit music an sell them that too, and if that
sells well I will release a shit live version of that album
with some new sub standard tracks as well...then when people
start to criticise an album I will just claim it is a
contract finisher with Warp.

Some people might actually think what I just typed :D

the problem is that people get it into their heads that
because its squarepusher, its good, or because its autechre,
its good. Thats such shite. Half you people would buy a cd
of a cat farting for 9 hours if it had autechre written on
it, and no doubt you'd like it too. "oh but its poignant and
ironic" ...right

Depends whether the cat managed to produce underlying subtle
rythmn's in its fart.

hard normal daddy is also pretty jazzy if thats what your
looking for (that is to say, more straightforward jazz, cus
Go Plastic also has some amazing jazz aspects to but they're
just not in as obvious a form.... and yeah theres not as
much of it anyway)

but anyway... you wont be dissapointed in HND, theres some
really cool stuff like double basslines and intertwining
winds n shit.. and some of his most subtle drum programming
too imo

hard normal daddy is amazing. it's his most jazzy album for
sure (excluding music is rotted one note). if you like
rotted, you'll LOVE this one :)
