yeah, i've got a job in tokyo. i'm not sure if i should be blabbing all over the net as to whom i'm working for. (not really all that big of a deal...but i need to keep the honor strict, and ask before i do things i have even the slightest question about).
about buying your stuff...what all are you selling? i don't need big apliances though...

Most of my crap has been disposed of already - just fridge, washing machine and moutain bike to go... You probably dont need any of it, I was only being semi serious.
Except for some pro camera gear, but I imagine that would be of limited interest to most people...
Where you going to be living? Do they sort you out with a place to live as part of your deal? Tell me where it is, I might be able to give you some useful info..

Really? - it's a long shot but do you want to buy a Nikon SB-28 Flash Gun. It does just about everything short of including a rice cooker... Or a 77ml circular polarising filter?
Unlikely but worth a try.
Find out where you are going to be living - hope it is somewhere good. I can give you info on clubs etc and other places to go if you are interested...

I loved tokyo. I love big, busy cities , and tokyo is the biggest and the busiest. The food was good. I'm into Japanese culture, so I enjoyed the Meiji shrine and the temples. And I met my girlfriend, so I had a damn good time. I'd really like to live there.

London's ok - expensive and overrated in my opinion, with crap transport and miserable people. Also seems like a village after living in Tokyo.
DOnt let me put you off the place, there are good things about it too - culture, music, pubs (when they are open), very pretty when the sun shines (rarely)... err.. what else?

True - but London seems paticualry feeble.. Picadilly Circus is rubbish - there are more flashing lights and neon on a suburban pachinko parlour in Japan than on one of the major tourist sites in London. No wonder the Japanese are not very impressed with Picadilly circus.
London does have history, character and beauty though. Does that make up for the shit weather, high prices and all the wankers?
This thread has been royally hijacked. Apologies to anyone wanting a discusision of soulseek.

Yes, she's Japanese. She's lived in tokyo her whole life. Her parents are very strict...her dad is from a samurai family, so I didn't get to see her house, but she was with me all day everyday I was there. I wanted to see a traditional Japanese home though...

That's pretty normal - as I am sure you know, traditionally Japanese people dont invite you inside their homes.. If they want to be nice to you they take you out, but inside home is usually for family only.
I knew a guy who was engaged to get married to a Japanese girl, and when he went over to pick her up, if she wasnt ready or whatever, he still had to wait outside the house in heat, rain snow etc until she was ready... He was marrying into the family and they still wouldn't invite him in...
How did you meet this lady? In US? Be careful not to mess her around or her dad might come and use his mighty samurai sword (no euphemism) on you.

Actually, we were introduced through a friend. We talked on the phone and through e-mail for a couple months, then I went to visit her last month and met her in person for the first time. She tells me her dad has a collection of about 10 swords he keeps on the wall, so if I do meet him, I'll be careful. :)

my dad married a japanese girl. good thing too or else i would not exist. come to think of it, if there was no vietnam war, my dad wouldn't have joined the navy to avoid getting drafted into the army. he wouldn't have been stationed at the base in japan. he wouldn't have met my mom at that night club and yadda yadda. out pops me 7 years later.
they never mentioned anything about not letting my dad into the house though. maybe thats just a regional thing.
oh and to stay on topic: soulseek down? how unusual ... :P
