Look up the symptoms online for yourself - high fever over 103 F is one symptom.
I'm not too worried, but at the same time my daughter's friend's father flies regular cargo routes to Hong Kong and back out of LAX, so when we get colds we have to keep an eye out for now.

even if you get it, you only have about a 6% chance of dying from it. i would wager that most of that 6% are people with compromised immune systems to begin with i.e. the elderly.
we should take advantage of this fear propaganda and invest in face mask/respirator companies.

the amount of people infected is not very high - up till now its nothing special.
except in China where they decided to completely ignore it and it got a bit heftier.
and yes, most of the people that died where elderly or very young.

I mean everyone makes this huge deal out of SARS which not even that many people have died from but eyt there's hundreds dieing from AIDS each day all over the world. Especially in Africa. I think we need to worry about that much more.. not saying we shouldn't worry about SARS but we need to see the reality of this. But it's the media's job to install fear into our lives.. so whatever.

fear is a powerful medium to keep the masses in check, however I don't see how you should worry about AIDS more then SARS, cos when it comes to AIDS it's mostly your own stupid mistake if you catch it, whereas with SARS it's like you happen to walk in some park and some infected person sneezes or coughs in your vincinity and next thing you know it's you on a deathbed, a somewhat different situation than with AIDS I'd say.
To wave this labdisease away as if it's nothing is ignorant imo. Like AIDS it's Population control, and they have much more stored in their labs. Just let the monkey out once in a while for a live experiment...

It doesn't kill everyone. It just kills the weak and infirm. Most able bodied people are able to shrug it off after a month or two. It's a bit like natural selection, really. Let's have more of it. Seperate the wheat from the chaff.

also, babies can get AIDS and they didn't do a damn thing to deserve it. also, many women in Africa get rapped due to a misconseption that if you are infected with HIV/AIDS you can get rid of it by having sex with another women. can't remember where i read this but it was about 2 months ago.

A foolish comparison?
Sure you can't catch AIDS standing beside someone in an elevator. And see here we have the education to know about condoms and safe practice with needles. In other countries they aren't educated about it so free-sex and drug use seems harmless and AIDS gets spread a lot faster then this SARS is being spread.

Here's some stats.
During 2002, AIDS caused the deaths of an estimated 3.1 million people, including 1.2 million women and 610,000 children under 15.
Today, 42 million people are estimated to be living with HIV/AIDS. Of these, 38.6 million are adults. 19.2 million are women, and 3.2 million are children under 15.
Seems to be spread a lot more then SARS.. seems like a fair comparison.

And they don't really tell you this kinda stuff on the news.
Following are the latest statistics from China's Ministry of Health on severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) on 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of China's mainland:
On April 17, the accumulative number of SARS cases rose to 1, 482 after 25 new cases were reported, of which six were in south China's Guangdong Province, 17 in Shanxi Province in the north, one in Shanghai and one in central China's Henan Province.
Fatalities from SARS remained unchanged at 65.
Meanwhile, 19 patients in Guangdong were discharged from hospital, adding the total recoveries to 1,126.
Hence the recoveries..
