I like quite a bit of Russian electronic music, for instance Ambidextrous and Syntetika. But my favorite is Novel 23, who has a new album title titled "Architectural Effects" coming out soon on Bip-Hop Records from France. It is supposed to be an enhanced CD with a video of one of his new tracks.

I used to really like EU, but they have seem to become progressively more boring, last 2 albums.
they sound too slick, keep repeating the same tricks and generally sound like autechre just around "amber".
they've lost it, I say. :(

one of my russian friends told me that all the good russian music comes from St. Petersburg, and that there's nothing good sounding outside its boundaries. is it true?
and could anyone recommend some good old non-electronic music from russia, like, from the pre-1999 period?

Russian synths are mental, look at this baby.
Some synths emulate the aesthetic stylings of 80s synths (the comparatively new Vostok would be a prime example).

Sorry, that should read: Some modern western synths emulate the aesthetic stylings of 80s Russian synths...
I think they're trying to appeal to synth collectors who want old fashioned modular synths :)
