808 State - CRAP

Just bought "Gorgeous" by 808 State in the record shop I
went to because I thought 808 State were good (and hard to
find).

Boy, was i wrong. This is the worst damn CD I've ever
heard in my life. I'm going to return and then pick up
either Feed Me Weird Things or Chiastic Slide.

Go get their greatest hit CD or grab Pacific State.

It's all about 'Pacific' and all it's other versions. Damn
those songs rule, speaking of which I happen to be listening
to Pacific 202 as I type.

Go d/l it and see what you think.

i preferred Cubik to Pacific.

Cubix is good, but I don't know what it is, Pacific just
sounds sooo good.

This album is just so poppy and corny I feel embarrassed for
buying it.

What do you say when you want to swap a CD?

Probably should've gotten "90" or the "808:88:98"
compilation, but 808 state is really more dance/pop
oriented...

Chiastic Slide...an underrated album if there ever was
one...

they are poor with the exception of new build which pisses
on most stuff i hear which is new, let yourself go which is
utterly brilliant (thanx to gerald simpson), and 90 which is
the only good thing graham massey ever managed (sadly). all
downhill from there.

by the way rephlex, when are we gonna hear this unreleased
808 state stuff? you're not gonna make me wait till november
are you? :)

I was listening to 808 state vs. MC Tunes - "splitting the
atom" last night. Great little madchester number.

I used to have the first 808 state album - I loved it. Like
Lee said, listen to it in context to when it came out.

wrong album to buy. definately.

they were awesome back when newbuild and quadrastate came
out. mostly thanks to gerald as blake up there has pointed
out.

if you think the remix on men1 is good then maybe you shoudl
check the early 808. avoid anything after 90.

apart from cubik and in yer face. they sounded ace in 1992
in a dingy club.

It was supposed to mean that electronic music 10 years ago
was a very different beast to what it is today. Most of the
stuff at the time was rave orientated which was then watered
down by commercial acts, which leads to a lot of it sounding
poppy and cheesy now.

I don't mean all music ages like that but I know to someone
who has just decided to listen to 808, some of it will sound
horrendously dated.
