GBA SP you're mine!

There is a new Castlevania game coming out on the PS2,
woooooooooo :D Are the gameboy advance castlevania's any
good? I loved SOTN on the psx.

I loved Symphony of the Night. The new one is being
developed by the same team, so expect more of the same
spectre-slaying goodness. The GBA Castlevanias have
received rave reviews and everyone I've talked to seems to
be in agreement..
I was a little let down myself though. They're like watered
down versions of their Playstation counterpart - A step back
in both options and replayability, not to mention the
obvious loss of graphical detail. I realize the PS is a
much more capable system than the Gameboy Advance but
comparisons are inevitable.
But don't take my word for it!

Just bought my mom a GBSP and Pocket Shanghai for her
birthday... great little machine. My kids both have a GBA
each and they play the hell out of those games, even the old
Gameboy games I had when it first came out in 1990.

I've never really been into handheld gaming, I much prefer
to play my games on a big tv screen with the better graphics
and such the consoles are capable of...and if I was
considering getting an Sp, I would realise that I could buy
2 console games for that price and quickly lose the idea. I
would like to play the castlevania games, however...

It's a bit of a shame how the new Castevania is 3d don't you
think Cabbog? I think it's one of those series that should
remain 2d...I always thought of Castlevania when I played
devil may cry though so they might pull it off, we'll see...

They're making the move to 3d? I had no idea. The last
time they tried to do that the results turned out to be
pretty mediocre - Or so I've heard. I've never actually
played the N64 one, just looked at the case in the store and
imagined how crappy it was.

The N64 Castlevanias are pretty solid, not bad at all. Don't
trust your imagination. Nowhere near Symphony or 3 or
anything... but what IS?

Although the official XLT sex-symbol appreciates your humble
offering, his ancient 28.8 modem prevents him from indulging
in such things. If you really want to impress me, locate a
picture of Birdo* and post it here in the thead.

Haha, great avatar.
And an interesting question! My guess is that they're not
really eggs at all - probably derived from some sort of
protein build-up in his/her belly and when alarmed, the
substance is hacked up into the mouth where it's shaped into
the perfect ovoid we see hurled through the air.

offline Joyrex from watmm.com (United States) on 2003-04-27 22:16 [#00673674]

What I want to know is how Birdo can fire an (seemingly)
uncooked egg right after he spits a fireball - wouldn't he
be firing an omlette at least? :)

And besides, wtf is so deadly about an egg? Mario/Luigi
should catch that bitch in a frying pan and serve that
sucker up!

The world of Nintendo is a vast and mysterious place..

I just picked up Super Puzzle Fighter II for my mommy -
seems Tetris Worlds was a bad egg and this is the next best
thing..
It's actually pretty entertaining considering who I bought
it for. I like the way you can play 2-player on the same
GBA, the button setup is accomodating and works suprisingly
well. It's also a lot of fun watching two Street Fighter
midgets squeal in Japanese as they beat each other's faces
in.

It's a her BTW. I have an old NMS somewher ethat features a
large picture of it with a red bow and long eyelashes. Not
that that means anything in these confused times :)

This case will have to remain unsolved until his/her return
to the drag strip in the new Mario Kart. The 128 bit
graphics will hopefully allow for closer and final
speculation.

I also bought Lunar: Legend - an RPG derived from the Sega
CD and Playstation series(never played or heard of any of
them). I was going to get Breath of Fire II but the clerk
insisted I get this..
It's good old-fashioned RPG madness. There's a handful of
grammatical errors every sentence and random battles pop up
in 7 second intervals.
"They call them Dragon Diamonds but they are my turd"
They call them translators but they are my ass. How the
hell does something like this slip by? How hard is it to
make a decent translation? Also: Why do Japanese people
make such horribly uninspiring music? They always ruin the
most poignant moments in their videogames\movies with
something that sounds like an excerpt from 'The Gay Man's
Guide to Safer Sex'. Oriental people need to grow more
facial hair and bigger balls.

success of a videogame, how could something so stupid be
overlooked?? It makes me wants to stab someone hard and run

Deluxe. Seriously, we're going to rock the house off it's

us to reminisce over stains later on.
Any way you look at it, it's awesome.
