my ant colony passed away this winter...:(...Just common UK meadow ants (the orange/yellow ones, Lasius Niger I think..).. (fuck knows why, they'd lasted 2yrs inside fine & were thriving; must have been over 500 or so in the colony. Started with about 50 so they were doing well...)... Nuptial flight time soon so might get a new queen that way...(or might get lazy and go dig up a nest...)... ps I've got a link somewhere you can buy ants...they are the people who supply Zoos & museums...kinda expensive though but worth it for some of the more obscure types i.e. Leaf-Cutters, Aussie Bullet Ants...jand goes digging..) |
