1995 serbian/yugoslavian film about the country from WWII
to 1992... one of the best films ever. i can't remember
laughing so hard in a movie before (and this is sub-titled
so that says a lot), but this movie is also very sad because
it's about a part of history most people don't and never
will know about. definitely see it if you can, it's really
entertaining, astounding, and inspiring.

Most impresive part in this movie is that
Angel is flying in under tunnel.
at first it is difficult for me to
understand essence of this movie.
but aftet watching several times ,i can
feel something like ppl have to live whatever it happened..

I LOVE EMIR KUSTURICA FILMS.

"lately only looks after money"

How trrue that is, and its sad because with theirr
technology and money they rreally do have the potential to
make some of the grreatest films everr.

i wish the local rental shops HAD this, but you have to
special order and BUY it! =/

i think what he may mean about the subtitles is that
sometimes the translation doesnt quite work.....ie. it's not
as funny as in the original language. but i guess in this
case it did.

*wonders if tolstoyed has seen this?*

fat-kaimo, re: subtitles, i mean a lot of humor is very
reliant not only on what's said but how it's said.. so it
can be hearder to get the full extent out of how
jokes/humorous comments are said in subtitled films, but the
fact that it's so easy to follow not only the dialogue but
understand every emotion with which the words are conveyed
says a lot about the film. some films you either have to
read or watch... this one it's easy to do both. that has to
do with the power of the movie, but also good subtitles:
very easy to read and seems to be a great translation, as
LeCoeur said.

a nice film, classic kusturica humor...
but i dont think you should take it too seriously hehe
people (the ones that dont understand serbian) seem to like
it a lot, im not sure why is this...perhaps there really is
a very good translation of it (but it still hard to imagine
how all those juicy words sound in english...)
i'll watch it again (thanks for reminding me of this) soon,
its been a long time since i saw it the last time...

phresch-how could you like that no mans land flick!? :)

i don't know...i like the way they have used humor in it,
yet the fact that's it's a quite serious movie but still
totally absurd....you didn't like it?

i guess it was alright (neither i liked it or disliked
it...just another film, there was nothing to stay in my
memory- perhaps the only thing i was attracted with are some
slovenian actors and the fact that it was shot in our
country, but it won an oscar so i guess i missed something
:) )
