im fucking serious here chaps...

Squarepusher and autechre and RDJ tap into the universal
sheme of things wuith their strange music that just seems to
make sense and will live forever. i ain´t been smoking, you
guys, but am reading books on Taoism and shit and can
definitely say that these artist do it for me on a spiritual
level. i hope some of you guys think the same. how else can
you explain the power and inteligence of some of their
work?

it pays the bills. there bills not mine. it creates BIG bill
for me.
dom't know much about tao, but something living forever is
one reason why i wanna get some music released. even just a
shitty 7"

yeah i dig what youre saying

i can explain it like this

they do their music for the sake of the artform itself, not
to immediately please others

expecially autechre in my opinion

the phrase is
'to do it for the buddha'

thought if you said that to them theyd no doubt shrug it off
:)

bob,

Are you relying on releasing music to live? Thats a bit sad.

crazy fool! bills for me as in i buy a lot of vinyl.
and i'm saying that when i'm dead, i want to have left
something behind. as in a single or something.

thats not sad, is it?

rockenjohnny .. that makes sense too but i was saying that
the music itself, not the act of creating it, has an
intrinsic esoteric quality that transends the creative
process, the creators, the constituent parts etc. look at
squarepushers direction changes for example.... their
seemingly chaotic but their is structure there that cannot
be described. a capturing of the human spirit and a release
of it too. classic taoist paradoxes everywhere.... rhythmn,
yet non rhythmn. but what you said seems valid too

yeah i dig that too

its what doing music is all about for me personally. its not
any cleverness of individual components that fascinates me,
but rather the more mysterious stuff that drops out, often
accidentally, between sounds and communicates with your mind
in unusual ways

keyfumbler i can see what you are saying but its very hard
to explain .
Electronica has drawn lots of open minded people together,
people from all over the world and imo we have a special
conection related to our minds and what stimulates them .Its
like they are running at a similar frequency or somthing
because every humans brain runs at a different
frequncy.Plaid have hinted about this to me when i was at a
gig in london, there visuals consisted of questions that
tried to link everyone together if you get what im saying.
That night for me started a deep conection to electronica .
i would like to point out that every electronica gig that i
have been to has seen no violence and that says a lot about
the people that enjoy it:)

this is why autechre keep me on my toes

the are lots of people who spend ages making a playlist of
percussions that sound just right, but theres no substance,
no life behind it. pretty soon it becomes apparent how
static it is and no different from your everyday sort of
techno

having said that, im a huge fan of guys like underworld,
although their material is obviously sequenced (watching
everything everything you see that theyre mixing sequences
up and down.. ) but theres such a rich sensation behind
songs like jumbo and born slippy that you cant deny it

but yeah, guys who get up there and press play and do
nothing else fail to excite me in, no matter how many tricks
there are in the playlist
