The first time I bought it was 2001, the sound quality's
really bad, I don't know if that's because it was an import
or what. The most recent edition wasn't out then, in 2001
that was the only way of getting SAW 1- import. Have you
heard both versions? Does the most recent edition have cool
liner notes (the import just had the front image and a blank
backside)? Thanks

all the sound qualities bad. thats what lends it that
special atmosphere.
what can you expect? xtal apparently was recorded on tape
and then chewed up like seven times, but hey, it still owns
everything out there (except tha, thats the best song ever)

Ya...that's what you get when a child prodigy uses primitive
recording devices. Apparently some of his cassettes were
chewed by his cat (as can be heard at the beginning of
Xtal). It is analog at its finest. You can even hear the
faders slip a couple of times through the album. RDJ
must've had too much coffee that day.

You have to admit though, the lo-fi feel of it all is part
of the attraction. I love it.

If you don't have it, buy it damnit! Just don't listen
through headphones. No other album has grown on me like SAW
1.
