Best of Luck mate. Tip- go for a long, slow swim the night
before it'll wear you out and help you sleep (I always have
difficulty sleeping before martial arts competitions...
pre-emptive adrenaline and as a result feel knackered the
next day). Morning of the fight eat a banana very slowly
over about 1/2 an hour one hour before the fight, drinking
water after each mouthfull. It'll help you maintain stamina
once you start fighting.

Let us know how you get on.

So that's what they teach you at akido, you viscious
bastard?
My ex (who does judo, self defense & juijitsu as well as
having done Kickboxing and Tai Chi in the past) is fighting
some Akido folks next week.

ceri...
its Budo Taijutsu i do - a non competitive art composing of
9 traditional Japanese Ryu including weapons, bonebreaking,
jutaijustsu, unarmed and many other things...
Incidently Aikido was derived from the same roots as one of
the schools.

I thought you did 2 martial arts?
Have you ever competed in any tournaments/grading?

offline KEYFUMBLER from DUBLIN (Ireland) on 2003-04-16 06:00 [#00653045]
Points: 5696 Status: Lurker

nbo tournaments mate, as its non competitive. as for
gradings.... there is a grading system... certain things
must be known before advancing ahead, but generally its done
through continual assesment.. like the old days.. as opposed
to a pressured in-front-of-the--class demopnstration or
someting
Check it out on the web..
"Bujinkan Budo Taijustu"
"Hall of the Warror God - Body Art"

I recommend using the Bonesaw taunt before fighting, 'you're
going noooooooowhere!!!' and maybe throw in the word
'asshole' at the end too :P

Hahaha! I was into kickboxing too when I was a kid, but I
came to realize there were funnier sports to be involved in,
with a lot lesser risk for not being able to sit by the
computer because of a black eye... Anyways... best of luck!
:)

Far East Monkey - I know the boxer you are talking about -
very famous and successful transvestite fighter.. (or "new
half" as they are called in Japan).

Actually I went and trained in Thailand for a while, and
that boxer (I forget his/her name) was from the same camp
where I was training.. But she was never there at the same
time as me...

Do you have special moves in kickboxing like Streetfighter?
Like do you charge up and then bust out a shinpuu-hadoken
for a hyper analo finish?

That has to be the most annoying question to ask a martial
artist. Right after, "can you kill people with your bare
hands?" :P

don't you watch seinfeld or something? ;-) Tolstoy is a
famous writer!

Elaine: Oh! Don't you know what this means, it's like
working with Tolstoy!

Jerry: Hey ya know what I read the most unbelievable
thing about Tolstoy the other day, did you know the
original title for "War and Peace" was
"War--What Is It Good For?"!

Elaine: Ha ha.

Jerry: No, no.. I'm not kidding Elaine it's true, his
mistress didn't like the title and insisted him change it to
"War and Peace"!

Elaine: But it's a line from that song!

Jerry: That's were they got it from!

Elaine: Really?

Jerry: I'm not joking!

Oh, and goodluck to you tokyojo!
