WARP..why do you hate them?

What is it about this independant record label that
releases music you love, that you hate?

that i love? or that i hate?
im confused
i dont really hate anything about them other than the fact
that they seem a bit slack with promotion etc... i can
always find ninjatune t-shirts yet never any warp ones...
that annoys me somewhat.

other than that... nothing

wankers who are criticizing labels that should be praised
when there are big huge labels that this negative energy
should be focused on.

This question isn't aimed at everyone...just some people
seem to diss the label that releases music they
buy/download...just wondered their reasoning or are they
just repeating nonsense they've heard somewhere...

-the music that starts to play everytime i go there.
annoying.
-the warpmusic/radio/visual section are un-organized/messy
-the search function isn't the best.

i was talking about the concept of this thread. why should
we be complaining about warp records when they are releasing
great album after great album of innovative music. there are
much bigger and better targets for criticism.

designing a Promo Warp 2004 Calendar for a college project
which is gonna fit in a cd case.

nice....

Ok mongol, ignore it then...

i think there are some things i don't blame people for
resenting:
-their prominence in the media and in the record store over
other labels that also have really good artists
-how they usually wait till an artist has proven himself on
another label
-the whole mira calix / intern thing (mira makes good music
though)
-projected frustration that when you try to talk about merck
your friends only know warp

you lucky fucker, how are you getting the mogwai cd? if it
has bonus tracks hook me up. you should do some remixes.

"-how they usually wait till an artist has proven himself on
another label" ...before signing a contract

also, i think people are just frustrated with how people
like aphex and autechre act, and blame the label for reasons
unknown

all those points are valid but I'm sure they worked really
hard and gambled to get these privelliges. In an indirect
way they must have helped all these brilliant new labels to
have the confidence to risk their rent etc. in what they'd
love to buy in a shop whether it's HMV or some local one.

ignore it? no way... ignorance causes this kind of stupid
thread concept in the first place.

unless of course, you started this thread so you could point
out why people's reasons for disliking warp are bullshit...
then it's a good idea.

I do want to challenge the fables about warp but if you
think they're shit then brilliant!! I just find it annoying
reading 'hate' things that have absoloutly no grounding...

i agree with you fo sho..

did you download the demo mp3 on mogwai.co.uk (click audio)?
it's a short electronic piece. apparently a lot of the new
cd is very electronic. i played "sine wave" on my show
sunday.

yea they just put it online a few days ago. if you're in the
mood for mp3's i can give you some mogwai rarities (2 sine
wave demos, import bonus tracks), but you have to let me
know you want 'em.

I can't send everything!!! loads of it is work in progress
ie. not very good at the moment...the 'B' thing will be a
cross between stockhausen 'stimmung' and 'loads of silly
beats/bass by me'

vocals and beats..that's it!No DSP, no Orchestras, no hurdy
gurdys.

no accordian?!

anyway i wasn't talking about your current betamax album i
was thinking of the earlier ones you made that didn't come
out ("building a building" for example).

http://www.sonicedge.net/howisya/mogwai/ -- for anyone who wants any rare
mogwai mp3's.. i'm not 100% done uploading yet but a LOT is
up now. have at it! i'll take it down in a few hours.

"ignore it? no way... ignorance causes this kind of stupid

Just because some people dislike Warp, it doesn't make them
ignorant. It's a matter of opinion.

honestly...I can't give songs out that aren't
finished...it's like seeing a picture of you half dressed.
I got 2 'B' songs today that are 18 minutes each! It's
really noodly and you wouldn't like it apart from the
collector side. is 'b' playing in your town on the next
tour? tell me and I'll get you on the list.

no the only american tour date for the beta band so far is
new york city. i'll let you know.

paula and i are going to both days of this :)

i'll be back in 15 minutes.. those 18 minute jams sound fun,
i'd like to hear, but that's not at ALL what i am talking
about. i mean stuff that's years old and finished (we talked
some about it last year). be back in a moment..

since everyone is posting what they hate, (about warp, or
about this post) i'll say what i love warp for:
great music they have released that has enriched my life,
and opened my eyes to many different types of music that i
might have not otherwise been exposed to.
thank you, warp.

it's an excellent compilation! i think a lot of people bash

really enjoy it.
