Immortal's battles in the north is a masterpiece of black
metal. Pure and raw, hard as hell.

Other "real bm" I like is Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom
Satanas" and lots of their bootlegs, and of course older
Burzum, most of Enslaved, Marduk, Emperor, Mysticum,
Enthroned, Graveland, Setherial, satyricon.

Cradle is good in it's on way probably, but it's not really
my thing.

I'm glad you brrought this up. I have just downloaded a song
frrom CDnow.com of theirrs. (not the best) and I plan to
lend Dusk and Her Embrace frrom a frriend. As farr as i can
tell thats theirr only good album, but even then i guess you
have to be open to it. (i actually bought that album once
and thought it was shit, but my attitude towarrds that kind
of music has changed since)

ahh, yes, gorgoroth's promo "a sorcery written in blood" has
one of my all time favorite songs - "katharinas bortgang"

de mysteriis dom sathanas is a great album, once you get
used to atila's voice ;) those who heard it know what i
mean

emperor a bit too cheesy for me.

burzum is actualy one of my favs too. especialy 'det som
engang var' album. 'lost wisdom', ohh... and 'en ring til aa
herske'...

why weak? only weak if your comparing, but then again, there
will always be something heavier, darker, "less weak" so
really that isnt the best comment to make.

Anyone of you heard Golden Dawn? Great BM from Austria...

I still have all my BM CD's from Abigor, Gorgoroth,
Dodheimsgard (great!), Kovenant, Dimmu Borgir, Enslaved,
Cradle of Filth, Limbonic Art, Aeternus, Immortal, Burzum,
Marduk, Satyricon, Thorns (great!), Ancient, Isengard,
Mayhem, Emperor, Gehenna, Arcturus, ABSU, etc....

Weak..... well i guess i am gonna have to agree. IMO it's
that "I am cool because i am different and all my clothes
come from 'hot topic' because i am pretending to be goth"
music.

I cannot support it.

Now hatebreed on the other hand.......

phh thats a lame comment, i guess thats just how someone
like you would see things on it, I mean really, if you cant
be smart enough to fucking look past pieces of cloth on
someones body as towards music then you should grow up.

Besides, who says I should or even have to dress like. I
dress casual, most likely with a bit of hip hop style thrown
in, but thats it at most. i dont pretend to do anything. I
just like the music

yeah but quality is pretty fucking relative, some of the
best music in the world is simple, uncomplicated and not
that talented.

No offense or anything but over (yonder) it's just too
trendy. I don't stand for shit like that. I am not judging
based on clothes i am judging based on the number of posers
that listen to that music.

Hey to each his own, right?

theyre just trying to get some $$$ on what bands like
bathory, venom and darkthrone achieved 15-20 years ago. and,
ofcourse they have to make it more available for the masses.
i see cradle of filth no different than some linkin park or
slipknot or some similar scheisse.

I like them til the Cruelty and the beast album. Nicholas
Barker was the main reason I like them. I heard "from the
cradle to.." and I really disliked it. Haven't heard my CD's
in several months think.

Nice to read you in this mb you true black metal heads.

DARKTHRONE or nothing

btw, there is a remixes album of Ulver, a norwegian
(early black metal) band (now an electronic experimental
act), some artists included in the new shape of Ulver songs
are Bogdan Raczynski and Merzbow... keep an eye on this
band!

Personally I never got into the black metal genre. Death
metal, yes, definitely. Black metal is just Iron Maiden with
cookie monster vocals.

neto: ulver - nattnens madrigal was really good. yes, i
heard theyre in more electronic stuff now. but merzbow and
bogdan? will check it out!

jaworski: obviously you havent heard the no-joking stuff
yet. cradle of filth aint black metal as far as im
concerned. cradle of filth ARE just iron maiden with cookie
monster vocals. plus, no matter how much i despite iron
maiden and saxon and manowar and shit like that, they have
much more skills than CoF. if you think only death metal is
for real, just check out any of the first 4 Immortal
albums - preferably Battles in the North of Pure
Holocaust
.

i too used to think its only about death metal. now im
hooked to the oldskool norwegian bm. well, that and
squarepusher. well... and autechre. and vsnares. and
ofcourse, i really like the sound of berlin bc's
dub/minimal...

over them any day.

vader is not bm. how come you dont like vader? they're
pretty much dm...

how about nile?

and yes, no matter what, its really nice to see people
appreciating good metal here. cheers to that!

Hmm, the Vader album I heard was pretty bm sounding. Oh
well. Nile are pretty good, I have Black Seeds and the one
before it... I'd rather see em live than listen to the
record, fucking incredible to watch.

really like 'amongst the catacombs of nephren-ka'. i think

I have Cruelty and the Beast--I like most of it. Im not
obsessed with it and really Ive only listened to it in its
entirety twice. The screaming gets to me sometimes. ;)
*covers ears* I also think that the cd booklet art for this
particular cd--the pictures of the band members with listed
fetishes and things--is really cheesy. They should just be
normal for once. Stop being so angsty. Grow a Jesus beard
like Trent Reznor. ;)

Jarworski, Kokoon, do you like Behemoth?

btw, i'm interested in the Tribute to Mayhem, have you heard
it?

I really enjoy the 3 first albums by Immortal, and yes, The
Madrigal of the Night is intense, raw, a lot of passion
inside of it, i love it.

funny this would come up.

i'm actually currently listening to blackmetalradio.

i realize that a lot of it isn't really black metal, but i'm
not terribly "into" the whole thing. trying to become more
familiar with it, though. some of it's okay, some of it's
shit.

I must say, as much as i'm into underground, i still like
COF, as i like the cheezy synth and the high pitch voice. I
know theres harder stuff out there, but nothing quite as
pompous and i like that. Also, i have the benefitt of
knowing what all the swedish and norwegian black metal
lyrics are about! hahah. i own you.

well, i think you could like them...

I read Behemoth and others like Vader, Immortal, Emperor,
Gorgoroth, and Absu are in the Mayhem Tribute (on the

Btw, the tribute to Euronymous has very cool tracks, the
Abruptum and Mayhem (Pagan Fears) songs are my favorites in
it.
