Artists you have met.

I have met a few "celebs" over the years, especially during
my time as a radio journalist for the Student Radio in
Bergen. They where all very nice people, except perhaps
Natasha Atlas, who were cranky as hell.. I didn't actually
meet her but i did an interview with here over the phone.

I did meet Merzbow - That was kinda funny coz we had to have
an interpreter who didn't speak Japanese that well anyway
and who knew absolutely NOTHING about noise music. The
interview was a bit slow...

Meeting Cranes was one of the greatest moments in my radio
journalism-days. I spent all night with them and my heart
almost stopped when Alison Shaw first stepped into the room
to talk to me prior to the gig. Great people, the Cranes..

I also met Matt 'Third Eye Foundation' Elliot. We smoked a
splif and talked about Aphex Twin. Nice...

But my favorite encounter with a celeb must have been Mark
Eitzel. He did a gig in Bergen i '98 and I had quit my radio
engagements by then. After the gig he mixed with the (very
small) crowd. My brother made contact with him and made me
come over to where he was sitting. We talked all night!
About everything from Nick Drake's suicide to electronica. I
ended up giving him a cd by german electronica-band
Sensorama, coz they built this track around a sample of one
of Eitzel's songs. He liked it very much.

Well, that's some of the artists I have been fortunate
enough to meet. I really wish I could meet Autechre - That
would be awesome!

Now, tell me who YOU met!

All metal bands -

Machine Head (didn't stop bonging)
Karma To Burn (didn't stop drinking)
Queens Of The Stone Age (really nice)

I'm sure there's more, can't remember tho.

I was once at a Swell-concert. I got there a bit early, and
was the first person in the room. Except for some drunk
sitting in a dark corner. He looked scary and dirty... i
left the room and had a drink at the bar before i came back
to the actual concert-room and some more people had filled
up the room.

The opening band was really shitty and played far too long.
I got really bored. And when they finally finished it
took the roadies and technicians over an hour to properly
set up all of Swell's equipment on the stage. God i was
bored! I just waited and waited and it seemed like an
eternity.

Then finally everything was set up and the bandmembers
walked onto the stage. And to my surprise the drunken bum
suddenly got up from his corner, climbed onto the stage and
walked up to the microphone. Haha, it turned out he was
actually David Freel... one of my musical heroes... and i
passed up on the chance to discuss his music with him for
over an hour (well, if i would have recognised him i
probably wouldn't have had the guts to speak to him anyway,
but...:-p).

congratulations, surrounded. That must be the most boring
story i've heard all year. Did you do anything else that day
- like yawn or scratch your ass or something? Anything at
all, just to brighten up your fucking deadly dull story.
