i need that too, my browser wont play them although i have
installed quicktime.

i heard you can simply save them as a different file in
quicktime, i never get to this point unfortunately

why does it also say download quicktime in that menu :\.
I hope this doesn't imply that you need to install quicktime
first, before you can convert the *.mov files?

excellent eXXailon!
i've been looking for something to convert mov to avi for
ages!

ok that's what I thought. I don't want to install quicktime
because it has fucked up my system before.

quicktime and realplayer are my 2 most hated pieces of
software EVER. i would rather have viri on my system than
them...

i don't think other media players are "allowed" to play
them, but surely somewhere there must be a hack or
underground media player that will play them

there's nothing wrong with quicktime. mov files are a hell
of a lot better then avi's (divx is a horrible, horrible
hack), and sorenson 3 rules!

realplayer is the most evil thing ever, advertisement crap
all over it.

fyi; you can only "convert" in quicktime if you upgrade it
to pro, which requires a rego key.

Quicktime player is a turd on windows, but it runs like a
dream on macs (makes sense). Just like windows media player
is a piece of shit on macs, and a dream on windows.

Down with WMV, i say!

Well there's this other tool you can use to convert mov to
mpg. I think you don't need QT for that.

I'm too good for you, ladies :P

most quicktime stuff these days uses the sorenson 3 codec
for audio; afaik the only program that can convert in
windows is quicktime pro or cleaner.

it's a good codec, but its proprietry as crap, which makes
it suck.

quicktime aint that bad on windows :) windows media player
is terrible on the mac.

(how many guys here are mac users, out of curosity? most
the idm'ers i know /are/ mac users, which is odd).

i take that back, google search just showed me there's heaps
of programs that can convert :(

just added an avatar, it sucks, but i'm dodge at photoshop

eeheeeheheheee!@?

that link to "Quicktime Alternative" is great.

it basically installs JUST the quicktime codec, so that you
can use your current media player.

now all i need is someone to bundle up the realmedia codec
in the same way

so you have no irremovable desktop icons or files that get
embedded in your system, but just the codec?
