Do you like The Beatles music?

Let's not be diplomatic here to please others :P what do
you think of their music (with no comments of how it was the
beginning of everything, blah blah... Just the music on its
own merits).

I dislike the Beatles music but can see how people would
like it...damn I was diplomatic :P

I like some of their songs.
I'm not really into them, but most of their hits appeal to
me as nice to listen to once in a while.
Music is quite simple in the beginning, but quite
experimental later on I think.

I, like Ophecks, love The Beatles, even some of McCartney's
contributions, tho personally I think he was the 3rd best
songwriter of the Beatles, behind Lennon and Harrison - it's
weird, I just put on The Anthology (Kindaly downloaded from
Ophecks!) and then I refreshed the board and here was this
thread!

NO!
i'm fucking fed up of hearing about "how great the beatles
were..." and "how they did soooo much for british music.."
Blah-di-fuckin' blah!
Maybe they did do a lot for british music, but i'm not
really interested by anything they did musically.

I don't really like their music, some of it is ok though.
Its funny really because I like Pink Floyd and some of their
earlier stuff sounds similar to The Beatles...

influence they've made on 'popular' music...

I sort of like it, but not quite enough to buy it. I've
nearly bought No.1s on countless occasions but always change
my mind at the moment of decision.

Yeah, people diss the beatles because they were just a
rockin' band in the beginning... But take modern composers
like Schoenberg, who started off writing more conventional
pieces, before becoming more avant-garde in their approach.

"I dislike anything which isn't electronica...I'm open
minded" hehehehehehehehahaaha!

i LOVE the beatles, cant get enough of them lately! I can
see why the early stuff puts ppl off, its nothing ground
breaking (basically just white man's blues) but they're
still great songs. As they became more innovative they just
got better and better!!

they're trippy, funny, non-conformist, controversial,
innovative.... the list goes on.

we were watching a video about the top selling singles, and
the beatles came up, someone in my class said "i can't stand
the beatles, they sound just like anyother rock band around
now!" how dumb can he get?!

i still think some beatles songs are ahead of most
contemporary artists.

just one question: were any singles released off of the
white album?

yeah paul, like stravinsky too. writing 'normal' ballets and
then also writing the Rite of Spring, getting tomatoes
thrown at his performances - what a man! what a great man!

I'd love to get a response like that from a classical
audience, something so daring and contrioversial that ppl
react like that! GENIUS! :D

Or at least stop playing Hey Jude at every given
opportunity. Really, it's just terrible. Ophecks can suck
my ass and savour the flavour.

The White album marked the first on the then newly formed
Apple label, which had made its first appearance as a 45
three months earlier on August 30, 1968 with the Hey
Jude/Revolution single, both of which were recorded during
the White Album sessions.

Also recorded during the White Album sessions were What's
the New Mary Jane and Not Guilty. These two tracks were only
available on bootlegs for many years, but were finally
released legitimately for the first time 28 years after they
were recorded on Anthology 3 in 1996.

''I dislike them because really, I dislike anything which
isn't electronica''

That's fine and all, but really, that must SUCK! :-D Makes
me feel so lucky that I love rock and ''IDM'' equally.

Well, it's clear that everybody else is total shit compared
to the Beatles, and they would be the only band with the
creativity and pop sensibility to revolutionize music again
these days. So I'm crossing my fingers that Paul and Ringo
will die soon and then the 4 of them will get reincarnated
simulataneously and then finally we'll have another musical
epiphany to look forward to after decades of inferiority.

Who needs ''indie cred'' when you can be the most creative
band in the world AND the most popular, baybee? What other
artist in any field can claim that remarkable feat?

Mylittlesister... I have 12 gigs of Beatles bootlegs on
Soulseek, 3,500 songs, so browse my big fat Beatles folder,
White Sessions and much more. I think I have bootlegs of
John Lennon napping and snoring, that's how bizarre some of
these are. ;-)

Now, for some ARM WRESTLING RANDOMNESS.

When I was younger I never cared for them much, but then a
friend showed me the light, and I discovered how truly
amazing they were. Revolver, Sgt. Peppers, White Album, and
Abbey Rd are 4 of the greatest albums ever made, and to
think they were all made within 4 years as well as all the
various side projects they did is mind boggling. The
beatles are the greatest.

Its a terrible thing when people dislike the beatles, but I
guess everyone has there own opinion. I think opheck hit
the nail on the head when he said "That's fine and all, but
really, that must SUCK! :-D Makes
me feel so lucky that I love rock and ''IDM'' equally."

It does however piss me off when people say they never
contributed anything worth mentioning to music just because
their music doesn't speak to you! what a closeminded idiotic
statement to make! Thats like saying Mozart never
contributed anything to music because I dont particularly
like his music.

Well in AE_King's defense, it's not like he said anything
that isn't electronica isn't GOOD... if he only like
electronica, you can't fault him for that or anything. He
said he can understand why someone would love the Beatles. I
wouldn't really call that narrow minded, just... really,
really, really, really, really uber unfortunate for him!

I think your use of "there" instead of "their" is a piss
poor excuse for grammar. ;)

Bwa ha! I only play. :)

I love the Beatles. Its just GOOD music. GOOD lyrics. I
wouldnt like any other band that have cheesy lyrics like,
"She loves you! Yah yah yah!" becuase, for me, with the
Beatles, its just not cheesy or corny or anything. Its
perfect.

The White Album and Abbey Road are my favorites--I have
both, along with other Beatles records, on vinyl. :D
