This is a most entertaining story, not least because I'm
picturing it all happening to a mini-George Costanza!

I just read that one abou the kid and the testicle... it
goes:

(from page 3)
"I showed my friend this thread, he grew up in Arizona. He
told me about a boyscout retreat he went on as a kid. One of
the other kids went to use the outhouse, and there was a
brown recluse under the toilet seat. He sat down and it bit
him in the testicle. He told a councilor person what
happened and they rushed him to the hospital. He had to have
that nut removed."

that is beyond scary...

Another fun quote:

"yeah spiders freak the shit outta me, i totally agree with
whoever said they would shoot the clock with a shotgun.

Scorpions however freak me out even more, here in tx we have
lots of them, once when i was about 8 i woke up with 1
SITTING ON MY EYE, yes thats right MY EYE, imagine how
freaky that shit would be, needless to say i shit my pants
and then threw it to the floor"
(Felzrith / page 4)

"One time while I was still living in Arizona I was at a
rest station and a scorpion walked over my foot. At first I
thought I had dropped some toilet paper, and lucky for me I
was already taking a shit, but the thing just kept walking
and I actually caught it and threw it outside. Since I was
only 9 or so when my mom saw me carrying the thing around
she started screaming at me. Then later that day I told my
mom there was a baby out with a rattle in some bushes and
she came back screaming again. Turns out there were 3 rattle
snakes protecting a nest with tons more baby snakes. We ate
rattlesnake later that night."
(humburto / page 4)

I'm gonna be having trouble going to the toilet in the
future with all these stories:
" there was a local guy reported in the papers that wanted
to take a dump one day and lo and behold, he found a fuckin
python in the toilet bowl hissing and everything. reports
say that the python might have crawled up thru the toilet
pipes and landed into the bowl. i would have gone fuck mad
if i EVER saw a snake hissing at me in the toilet bowl."
(Yod4 / page 4)

offline Key_Secret from Sverige (Sweden) on 2003-04-03 18:47 [#00631507]

this is the last quote I post.
But this particular one made me laugh:

"I've been stung 2 times by Scorpions, the first time the
bastard got me 3 times in the back when I woke up in the
middle of the night. Got my wife and her dog too."
(coruscare / page 5)

something :D
wow and then one in your pillow, GOOD CHRIST! i'd die if
that happened to me, lol

and yeah i'm glad your normal avatar's back george :) you
shouldn't ever take an other avatar, this one suits you
great
(in a possitive way)
i wish i could make up my mind and choose one avatar which
i'd stick to, that's the best imo, that you can recognize
someone at his/her avatar cause it's always the same,
somehow people tend to see
<-- this one as 'mortons 'real' avatar' although i had some
others before this one..
still i think i'll stick to this one :)

"i couldn't go to sleep either in that situation i
think
"

yeah that's what i thought! Hehe... but sometimes the body
is stronger than the mind. Also... if you don't want to fall
asleep it's probably not a good idea to be lying in bed...
underneath the blankets ;-)

"wow and then one in your pillow, GOOD CHRIST! i'd die if
that happened to me, lol
"

hehe... when i think about that again my skin still crawls.
It was a big one too! A big hairy black spider :-s... i
can't believe i had been resting my head on it for
several hours.

It got me really paranoid too :-p I imagined there were
spiders everywhere. The next morning i was afraid to put on
my clothes... i turned everything inside-out first and
double and triple checked there were no insects in them.

I pity the guests who would stay in that bungalow after us!!

I fully agree on the avatar-thing by the way :-)

"that's the best imo, that you can recognize someone at
his/her avatar cause it's always the same, somehow people
tend to see
"

Exactly... that's why i've had george for such a long time.
And that's why all my favourite avatars here are the ones
that have been around for a long time.

I only turned it upside-down in that strange time when the
whole board went crazy and flea got banned :-s... the board
didn't make sense to me anymore... and i thought i'd see if
it made more sense if i looked at it from another angle or
something ;-) Lol... maybe it was probably a dumb idea. I'm
glad i'm back to normal anyway. Whenever i look at my own
avatar i always hear george laugh in that particular way...
thru his nose. (klinkt alsof 'ie knort... zo'n beetje als
een varken :-p)... hehe... that little chuckle.

And yeah the embryo is most definitely your best avatar! The
logo's-avatar look really good, but it doesn't really have
much character.

I also liked that talking ant from a bug's life...
especially on afternoons when you post alot it really suits
you :-p
But i think the embryo is better anyway.

A few years ago my dad came to pick me up from indoor
cricket at 10:30 at night in our (at the time) old banger of
a car. I get in the front seat and notice something
crawling along the door interior jsut next to me, it was a
big-ass huntsman spider! I say to dad as calmy as possible
'hey dad, can you just pull over a second?' which he does,
and then I show him the spider which he flicks away for me
(I wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole! :P) with the
street directory. Feeling better I get in but my face turns
white as soon as I do so, I had put my hand on 'another' one
as I got into the car!! I lifted my hand up quickly but
there was all this sliome stuff on my hand (when I looked at
my hand it was classic hoprror movie stuff, lol), I think I
let off a few loud 'oh my fucking gods!!' that time...dad
flicked that beast out too after a while (it took a while
cos dad was out of the car as quick as lightning too :P).
We couldn't find anymore spiders after having a thorough
look through thw car (it was bloody dark though so hard to
see), let's just say dad drove bloody fast back home! :P
The next day we took off the side panels of the doors and
there was the fattest nest of spiders on both sides of the
car, I nearly died when I saw it :o God that was the worst
experience ever...

What's a huntsman spider? I noticed you live in australia...
from what i've seen on the discovery channel you've got some
really scary spiders over there! :-p

"crawling along the door interior jsut next to me"

"I had put my hand on 'another' one

"

jesus... that's really terrible!

"there was the fattest nest of spiders on both sides of

aaaargh! A nest! Oh my god... i would have just sold the car
at that point... or pushed it off a cliff ;-) No way would i
ever sit in it again!

<-- yeah i think i'll keep this one as my avatar

somehow it seemed as if people were far more quickly annoyed
by anything i said when i had that ant-avatar, in fact
that's the reason i don't use that one anymore (i once made
a thread about that "Avatar Influence", you know the way you
look at a post depends on the avatar that's next to it (e.g.
you (surrounded) could never get mad at or be mean to
someone with that avatar :) , if you'd say "shut up you
moron" no-one would take it serious or be offended by it i
think (and that's good :D))

i just discovered how to make gifs at that time, i made the
one with the logos too back then, but i fully agree that it
doesn't have any character (although i was a little bit
proud of it in the beginning, haha)

so, conclusion (i think i just convinced myself with this
post) :
this is going to be my avatar from now on :P

A huntsman spider is a big, dark brown sob, the ones in the
car were about 10cm long :(

hehe, yeah we sold the car alright :P what a nightmare...My
mum had a MAMMOTH stick insect in her hair once, thatw as
jsut as bad really! When we finally got it out, we stomped
on it like mad and all this yellow blood (yes, they have
'yellow' blood!!) pissed out in a phat arterial spray

"people were far more quickly annoyed by anything i said
when i had that ant-avatar
"

that's really quite fascinating. Obviously we are all
intelligent people here... we all know an avatar is just a
picture, not the real person... and yet it does affect the
way we read posts... the human mind is so interesting!

"you (surrounded) could never get mad at or be mean to
someone with that avatar
"

yeah right... what do you know!? you're an idiot!

*just testing* ;-)

"if you'd say "shut up you moron" no-one would take it
serious or be offended by it i think (and that's good
:D))
"

lol... i never thought of that... hehehe... you're probably
right. I might use that information to my advantage >:)
*evil newman-laughter*

"although i was a little bit proud of it in the
beginning, haha
"

well it looks good enough... but i think any type of face
(human or animal) just instantly adds character to any
avatar.

"this is going to be my avatar from now on :P"

Hurray! :-D Congratiulations buddy, i'm glad you're finally
settling down ;-) A wise decision methinks.

stingray ever (you know what those are right? :P ) it
dwarfed the whole underside of the ship!!

When I lived in Cairns I had a creek bwhind my backyard
which I used to swim in frequently till one day, a dude came
by and warned me and my bro that crocs frequented the area
quite often :o

Damn, I wanna move to england :*(

Well the ending of arachaphobia is ridiculous. Using a big

But the first hour or so is sooooo scary. Mostly because
they use realistic spiders... not big supernatural monsters.

ive had a few spiders that size in my room.. i saw a bigger
one than that on the outside of our glass sliding door in
the kitchen.. bloody huge!! big as a round'a'bout !!

if they are in my room i just catch em in a glass and put
them back out side to do their job of ridding the world of
anoying bugs like flys and mosquito.

ive only had a few close encounters with huntsman
spiders..

once when i was about 16 i came home from a walk somewhere
.. i must have brushed past a tree or something.. i get
home.. im standing in the kitchen and i look down at my
chest.. lol.. there is this huge sucker just looking back at
me.. i quicky brushed it off, it didnt bite me but it gave
me a bit of an adrenaline hit.. lol

and once in the car with mum (mum driving).. it must have
been a bit glary, mum flips down the sun visor and there is
a spider on it.. ahhh .. lol lucky we werent going too
fast.. mum pulls over and we (me and my sister) all jump
out.. rid the car of the spider and move on our merry way..
