I am soon to be TokyoJo no longer - I am leaving Japan and
moving to London again..

This time rather than flying I am going to take the Trans
Siberian Railway from Beijing through Mongolia and Siberia
onto Moscow and St Petersburg.. Should take about a month. I
am really excited about seein Gobi Desert, Great Wall of
China, Lake Baikal etc etc..

Anyway, since I have to start packing up all my shit to send
to London soon (including my music collection) I need to
think about what music is going to accompany me on this epic
journey from Eastern Asia to Northern Europe..

What music should I take with me..

My thoughts:

SAW 1 and 2
Boc
Some Eno
Plenty of Dub
Seefeel
Susumu Yokota
Flaming Lips
Astrobotnia
Mercury Rev
Low
The Orb...

What else should I take? I always fuck this kind of thing up
when I go on a trip - I get there and really regret whatever
cds I brought with me - So I wannta get this one right.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thx.

Yep - can't get enough dub at the monent - just bought "PIck
a Dub" by Keith Hudson and Scientist rids the world of the
evil curse of the vampires yesterday.. blinding records both
of them.

What purer kind of music is there than dub - it has
everything - wicked beats, mashed symbols, bass drums that
sounds like daisy cutter bombs and bass lines so badd ass
they should be illegal!

Perfect..

maybe some Augustus Pablo. i've been listening to El Rockers
recently.
hmmm..... are you into vsnares? i like to listen to him at
night - when its all dark. It can be great.
Or the Braindance Coincidence. I like to ride trains with
that.
and i wouldn't be without björk (all 4-5 albums) but thats
just me...
thats a nice journey you're planning. I wish you all the
best.

Far East Monkey - Hisashiburi ne... atarashii avatar ga
kakoii yo ne..

I am going to move to London for a few years - I have a lot
of friends and family in London and I want to spend some
more time with them - maybe I will come back to Japan in
three of four years time - I love Japan and have so many
good friends here, I am sure I will miss it when I go... In
fact I am sure I will come back again to live sometime.

And good suggestion about Mum - I think I will bring all
their cds with me. FAM - did you see MUM play at Summer
Sonic Festival in Chiba last summer? Sugokatta..

Blash - I guess you are planning to get a job teaching
English, right? Or maybe you want to teach French or German
(excuse my ignorance, not sure which you might speak if you
come from Switzerland, probably both, right?).

Anyway, there are plenly of jobs here teaching, some deals a
lot better than others (so I hear, I am not a teacher).

But costs are high here, you should bring a lot of money to
live on while you are looking for a job... If you want more
specific advice or any other questions, you can send me an
email - post your adress here if you want to know more and I
will mail you...

Far East Monkey - When I leave Japan I will miss the onsen -
today I went to onsen in Saitama.. Hanami party today was
cancelled because of bad weather (is it bad in Osaka as
well? - it is terrible in tokyo today).

Tomorrow hanami party if weather is good.. I love hanami..
