Seeing as Eels' new album "Shootenanny" is coming
out 3rd of june, there's a nice interview on the
eels-website with E.

The Interview Itself

"C.M.Y.: "Saturday Morning", about being bored when
you're a kid and your parents aren't awake yet, must be
unique in its subject matter.

E: I've been thinking about that lately. That feeling of
being eight years old and a day seems like a year. You wake
up early on Saturday and it'll be three hours before you can
even go to your friend's house to play. It seems like a
small moment now, but it was such a big deal then. Do you
remember a show called Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp?

C.M.Y.: No.

E: It was like Get Smart, but with chimps. I remember
watching that show at 6 a.m. and when it was over, thinking,
'What am I going to do now?' I recently bought a tape of the
show as research. I do a lot of research for my songs."

such a GREAT idea for a song! :)

"C.M.Y.: Are you going to tour?

E: I can't wait. Something strange has happened to me. I
used to hate touring. Now I just want to get back to it. I
was really sad when the last tour ended. There's something
great about always moving. My favorite time of day is Rock
O'clock."

HA!

thanks qrter! i've recently gotten into eels, mark everett
is a really cool dude.

btw: have you ever heard of "late night with zack"? it was a
show on vh1 that only lasted about a month, but it was
great! eels played "fresh feeling" on there, and i've been
trying to find video/audio recording of it. any idea?

yeah, its been on slsk for months, as usual.

I don't like it very much. it's almost like a retrospective
- you can go through the whole album and say "oh, that
track's an electroshock blues track, oh, that's a
daisies for the galaxy track" etc.

oh well. we'll see how it is when I have the finished
product in my grubby little hands.

going to see them play on the 27th, next month. thats always
fun.

LeCoeur: you should get their live albums! there are two and
they produce them themselves - you can only buy them from
the site. I would especially recommend the new one.

JESUS!

I just did a google for E's father, as E says in the
interview..

"My father was a genius (Hugh Everett III, responsible
for Everett's Many Worlds Theory of Parallel
Universes)"

..which sounds like a joke to me.

it's TRUE!

what are the electroshock style tracks? i'll download those.
i don't like albums 3 and 4 much. i'll lend LeCoeur the 2nd
live album, she'll like it.

i saw them live a while ago

it was pretty depressing, not much energy. the best part was
when butch came out and sang a song about being a sad clown
for kids parties

Jeez... a fifth album already?!
I think i have some shopping to do :-p I only have the first
2 ones so far. But i love them both dearly (especially
electroshock blues), so i want to buy the other 2 as well.
And eventually this new one too.

"it'll be three hours before you can
even go to your friend's house to play. It seems like a
small moment now, but it was such a big deal then
"

Hehe... i remember that feeling! I just love this guy's
lyrics :-) Can't wait to hear the finished result!!

Where do they play in holland? I've never seen them live...
sounds like i've been missing out.
