ahh "gangter" rapper.. you certainly pulled this term
from the crypt of yesteryear's discarded street slang (the
1994 section, row 3) and applied it to one who does not
merit such a title. (though I'm sure he'd greatly appreciate
the misconception) he may have been a fan of "gangsta
rap", and may be the dancing monkey/protege of a reformed
"gangsta rapper," but there is nothing "gangsta" about
MARSHALL

What made you think I have it?

Was I too enthousiast?
maybe that's because I had to think of the concert I saw of
Dose one last month.

however i'm still in the BLASTED Q and it's getting
aggravating (hates slsk cos of the long waits)

battle... especially doseone!

It is a shame Eminem wimps out of battles he knows he might
lose, but I suppose that shows he has a smart business
brain.

even though it came before, i think eminem pretty much
finished dilated off with these four lines in "quitter":
Dilated, go ask your people how I leave ya
with your three CD's, nobody sees, when they released
Evidence, don't fuck around with real MC's
who ain't ready for no underground beef, so fuck geeks

i mean really... how can they come back from them? he's
saying they're not even worth his time. it's like the sole
lyric jay-z gave jadakiss in "takeover":
And all you other cats throwin shots at Jigga
You only get half a bar - fuck y'all niggaz

or, conversely, when nas tops jay-z off on "last real nigga
alive":
The Gift and The Curse? Fuck that shit, the first shall
be last
I'm the man's man, a rapper's rapper
G-O-D S-O-N, they'll be none after
I was Scarface, Jay was Manolo
It hurt me when I had to kill him and his whole squad for
dolo

IMO that really ended the nas/jay-z war. it's obvious to
real hip-hop fans, no matter how disappointed you are with
nas' last few albums, jay-z has never had anything on nas
except commercial appeal.

so anyway, those are some smart examples of preempting beefs
that aren't worth pursuing any further...

I read a doseone interview where he says it never happened;
it was just a press mistake.

really? well that explains why no one can find a real audio
copy of it. i wonder how they made that mistake?

ok, i found evidence to the CONTRARY. click here for all
of it, and here's the relevant part:
It must have been difficult to emerge from the
'freethinking' indie-hiphop scene, which is ironically full
of opinionated and judgmental people. It is a scene where
emcees make a name for themselves at battle-rap contests,
and DoseOne was no different. In fact, one time he lost an
emcee battle to Eminem, of all people, in the high rounds of
the annual Scribble jam, many years back when both emcees
were unknown. And it's pretty strange to see both artists
now, at polar opposite ends of the hiphop world.
"Honestly, I think it’s pretty interesting that he
does personal music now. I think it’s good. I think he
kills it. He’s a great rapper. His hang-ups and his
low-blows, his attention shit, all that stuff’s terrible.
But you know what’s wild? When I see him on TV, he looks
uncomfortable, man. It’s like he’s still playing a role.
For how personal some of that new music is, and how you see
him when you hear it, is not the way he hold himself on
those MTV shows – when he’s all stiff, with white
sneakers and a black leather coat. It’s two different
people. It’s kinda interesting… I’m glad I don’t
have to do that.
It could have been any of us, at that point (that made it
big). I think that’s part of the thing. We went our
separate ways. We had the same passion surrounding us and
the same fans, but different scale. Different depth."
