Fresh from a UK and European tour in support for their
critically-acclaimed 2nd album for Ninja Tune, 'Everyday',
Jason Swinscoe and band now present their latest unique and
groundbreaking musical offering - a score a classic silent
flick.

In late 99, Swinscoe was asked by the organisers of the
Porto Film Festival if the band wanted to score a soundtrack
to a silent movie. It seemed a perfect opportunity to expand
the ideas of The Cinematic Orchestra into the world which
had given them their name. But the difference was this was
for a one off live performance. The film was Dziga Vertov's
'Man With A Movie Camera a 1929 early documentary cinema
film from the Soviet Union. The performance took place in an
old theatre space in Porto and ended with a standing ovation
of 3,500 people. Since that evening TCO have performed the
score live at film festivals from Turkey to Scotland - where
they received a standing ovation for their performance at
the George Square Theatre as part of two performances the
Triptych Festival.

The original sessions for 'MWMC'‚ had a formative
influence on the 'Everyday' album (Giles Peterson listener's
album of the year last year). Certain tracks that made it on
to the album were written specifically for the score.

The Original mix of the title track is a complex piece of
orchestral jazz; a study in texture and rhythm which leads
you in and surrounds you in warm layers of sound whilst the
live drumming keeps your feet moving.

On remix duties Domu comes up with a piece of dancefloor
magic. He manages to retain the musicality of the original
with the lush synths and flutes floating over the top, all
underpinned by a gorgeous broken beat, tight percussion and
the mother of all twisted basslines. Guaranteed to shift all
butts within a mile radius!

Now 'The Man With A Movie Camera' project is to be taken a
step further. TCO are taking this unique project on a
theatre tour which began when they opened The Barbican's
'Only Connect' series of live events. This event
