OK, first off, this may only apply to people from North
America, as I don't know how European radio stations
operate.

Now, has anyone noticed that certain radio stations (namely
top40, R&B, and hip-hop) sometimes play songs faster than
normal? Nobody seems to notice this but me, and I can't
believe they don't hear the difference, but it's definitely
faster and at a higher pitch on the radio. I have no idea
why they would do this, other than to squeeze in more time
for ads.

i know that 60s legend joe meek once said that he always
sped up his final mixes by a couple of percent as they went
down to make it sound 'more commercial'.. i dunno if theres
any truth in it but i suspect there is.

correct - to allow more time for commercials (thus more
money)

they also do it to play more songs - the more songs they
play the more they get - more money

its all about the dolla - holla

(anyone who doesnt notice it doesnt know how to listen to
music)

Playing songs faster? Don't be silly.

Everyone knows it's the rest of the world being slowed down.
