Haha, I watched Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the
Dead back to back this afternoon/evening... I'm all zombied
out. Both are great, but especially Dawn.

Is this not the coolest movie ever made? I'm so ready to go
conquer the Sydney Shopping Center.

Yes it is

Weren't you going to mail those EPs out? Still doing it?

This film is bizarre... running around a mall killing
zombies while 70's synth horns blare out upbeat tunes...
total U-turn from the first one.

Do it, this is one of the funnest movies I've ever seen. The
first one is spooky, but Dawn is a riot... and pretty tense
at the same time... and mega gory. I'm talking millions of
gallons of blood.

Is this not the coolest movie ever made?

Fuck yeah. :-)

It's scary, it's edge of the seat suspeneful, and more than
a few times it creeps me out like dropping too fast in an
elevator.

The soundtrack is perfect for the movie. Goblin used to do
some good work. Which reminds me, I should go download some
Goblin from EMusic.

Mmm, I think the stuff at EMusic is compilations rather than
full soundtracks. But still, it has the most memorable
themes and stuff.

Isn't there a lot of filler on the full soundtracks, or is
it all good? I'm trying to remember what Suspiria sounded
like other than the main theme....

I've seen the directors cut of the movie... good movie. I
borrowed the DVD from a friend, and on the DVD there was
also another cut, made by our hero Dari Argento. Anybody
seen that one? (it was short than the directors cut so I
didn't watch it)

It hasn't the same atmosphere as Night of the Living Dead,
but it fulfills great "plundering a shopping mall"
fantasies!

zombies where i drink orange julius

haha, YEAH ophecks,
I love DOTD.
Especially since I'm one of the proud owners of the ULIMATE
FINAL CUT, that contains everything of the european cut and
everything of the original romero cut, which makes it a
total runtime of 156 MINS! :)

For all of those who didn't see it yet, my picture changes
to a short pic of ken foree ;)

Return of the Living Dead? Didn't they nuke the area with
the zombies? That was a fun movie. I liked the part where
the hero zombie guy cremates himself while the soundtrack is
playing "Burn the Flames" by Roky Erickson.

156 minutes! Yeesh... I was lucky enough to get a decent
version without too many cuts, all the gore and everything
was intact... but now I want the ''real deal''.

well, it's long story...
as dawn of the dead was shot, Romero (the director) got help
by dario argento (italian director) with the film budget (I
guess).
Anyway, when Romero has edited his version, Argento was not
very satisfied with his version and so he did the editing.
They did a compromise, Romeros version will be released in
the US and the UK, and argentos version will be released in
europe and the rest of the world.
the runtime for romeros cut was 127 minutes with library
music, argentos version was 119 minutes with music by
goblin.

in the mid 90ies, Romeros has released his director's cut in
the UK with a total runtime of 139 minutes.

ok, hope you can follow so far :)

in 2000, Astro Filmworks (a german videolabel) did a cut
that contains everything from the romero director's cut and
the argento cut. it's the most complete cut there is, but
it's not really intended by the directors.

I guess this version is only available in germany then.

Fuck, I just rented Day of the Dead a few minutes ago, and
it says it's 91 minutes... somebody actually wrote on the
label of the video with a pen, ''stupid edited version, good
one is 101 minutes''.

Fuck.
