It dawned on me this morning that the dominant emotion running through all of my music is a form of melancholy. Probably not that healthy! Do you have a such a factor pervading the music you own?

same here, mostly melancholy
the other day a roommate came in and said "hey let's play some happy music", i was like 'err.. i'm not sure if i have any..'
in my opinion most melancholic/emotional (radiohead/sigur ros etc.etc.) music is more serious than 'happy music', i don't really know how to put this, it has more 'feeling' in it..

my stuff is often real moody.. i rarely do anything cute. its all my idea of fun at the time tho, messing around.
looking at ep2 subtle t theres a bit of aggro stuff (like shimatta, paperball)
but sometimes itll be reflective in a positive way (smiling quiet, overcast)
the goal behind doing music for me is to suggest some kind of sensation, so when any of the above happens, im pleased (geo team & free to hold give me intense images)

Id go with the melancholy. Theres also a lot of positive emotions in some of the things I listen to--Cure and Bjork, mostly. Then theres this air of sadness, betrayal, and longing in some of my Tori.
and hungerr... I need breakfast. ;(

Yeah, my ex said, "You have a lot of depressing music..."
Personally I fail to see what is depressing at all about Kosmik Kommando, Prodigy and 187 Lockdown, but there you go :)

ditto. That's what my girlfriend said this morning and I thought 'well apart from some metallica .. no, not really'. She likes 'stone in focus' though which is good as it's sheer bliss to far asleep to.
I agree with you on the emotion front, not that I dislike less emotional stuff it's just that it doesn't really do anything much for me...

Uh... pretty varied! Equal parts abstract/cold/emotionless, happy pop rock, depressing dirges, melodramatic... I can't pick out one dominant emotion anymore.

hmmm most of my music is a base for my emotions. i can mold it to be whatever i want it to be. music without words is so much better than music with words cuz theres no restrictions on what the song can mean.

Fear, cynism and melancholy. My ex gf said it sounds so somber which made me reply :'Well, I'm a somber guy.' :)

I can't stand 'happy' music, it makes me running. :) I got the same thing with overhappy people.
I once had a nice cartoon stored where there was this guy smiling all the time. Someone asked his wife what was wrong and she answered :' It's some kind of chemical imbalance, he's happy all the time." :) (I hate writing down cartoons but I can find the damn thing). ;)
