Hahaha, this show is GREAT! Right after the Simpsons...
very Malcolm in the Middle-ish, great stuff... how long has
this show been on, I'm just seeing it for the first time.

Welcome to Sunday Oliver. CTV will broadcast Oliver Beene, a
fast-paced comedy series, Sundays at 7:00 p.m. ET, beginning
March 9 (check local listings). The 30-minute series
showcases one of televisions newest and youngest sensations,
Grant Rosenmeyer, while offering a unique look at the life
of a precocious pre-teen and his comical struggles to
overcome the oddness of his family in the quest for an
ordinary life.

It's 1962, and the world of 11-year-old Oliver Beene
(Rosenmeyer) is filled with chaos. His eccentric family is
made up of his father Jerry (Murphy Brown’s Grant Shaud),
a dentist whose idea of a fun on a weekend is drilling the
kids’ molars; his mother Charlotte (Wendy Makkena, Sister
Act), a homemaker who idolizes Jackie Kennedy; and his older
brother Ted (Andrew Lawrence, Disney’s Recess), a sports
fanatic. Like every kid, Oliver longs for a bit of family
normalcy and peer acceptance at a time when nothing seems to
make any sense, especially while practicing drills for the
end of civilization in a fallout shelter with his family
during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Making life a bit more
bearable are Oliver’s friends at school, including Michael
(Taylor Emerson), the most fabulous kid in class, and Joyce
(Daveigh Chase), the girl with whom Oliver has shared a desk
since third grade. Narrated by a wickedly wry adult Oliver
(David Cross), the series explores the often hilarious
trials and sometimes outrageous tribulations of a kid
growing up.

The series is written by Howard Gewirtz, (Wings), who
survived the Cuban Missile Crisis in his own family’s
fallout shelter. He and producer Steven Levitan (Just Shoot
Me) uses flashbacks and flash-forwards to vividly re-create
the Kennedy-era sixties in this fast-paced comedy. Oliver
Beene is a DreamWorks Television production in association
with 20th Century Fox Television. Howard Gewirtz is
creator/executive producer and Steven Levitan is executive
producer.
