No, not a problem. I just find an attitude that you
demonstrated to be funny, that's all.

And, i tried to keep this reasonably well argued, i didn't
just start dumping slogans at you.

Meho, I think another factor that has to be considered in
your case is the availability of the stuff where you live.
You're obviously really into all the music, from Aphex to
Godflesh, but when you live where you live, you have no
other option but to source the music elsewhere. Add to that
the the fact that you would find it hard to use mailorder
due to currency conversions, and it is perfectly
understandable why you don't buy much stuff.
On the other hand, us westerners of the civilised world have
far more opportunities to pick up all these releases without
much hassle, effort-wise or financially. So what you would
consider nerdiness is more run of the mill here.

But Spikee, giving out about horders! Who recently bought a
second copy of UI Green for £160? Eh?

1) people can love music
2) people can enjoy collecting stuff
3) people can be both type 1 folk and type 2 folk at the
same time

Collecting isn't about collecting for the sake of it. I
collect Warp records cos over the years I've come to realise
that (in my opinion) the inferior records are far
outnumbered by the great ones.

I started by just buying albums and EPs when they came out
cos they were great, gradually got more into it, started
building a discography which led me to track down even the
obscure and rare releases, white labels, promos merchandise
etc. It's a hobby, like any other.

I don't collect Elvis records cos I can't stand Elvis. You
collect what you like. And if that means letting in some
poo, well it's acceptable. If there was more poo than not, I
wouldn't bother.

Blip: how come you NEVER post on GF messageboard and i see
you there every single day, hehe? You have a certain point
to what you say and the unavailability of a lot of releases
accounts for my case. But then again, it's not only that. I
can bet my money here that I have more music at home than
90% people here. I remember a thread about a year ago about
who had how many CD's. People talked about figures between
50 and 200, whereas i had over 700. Not that it makes me
better than anyone, mind you. I just want to hear and be
able to listen to so much music that's all.

XCeque: Well, this is where the difference lies: I too find
warp to be a great label, but I only have a couple of
original releases of their stuff. And, music collecting is
no hobby to me. It's a necessity.

But Spikee, giving out about horders! Who recently bought a

*rolls his eyes* I said if you don't have it it's fine but
getting more then the CD and vinyl is pushing it. I didn't
have it and I got it. Read what I said again! Your point is
not a good point at all as you totally missed what I had
said. I DJ the UI vinyls so it's public domain too...

I didn't have UI green. If I got UI green, then UI green
promo, then UI tape i'd have a problem. That was my point. I
DJ these vinyls so I don't horde.

See? Is anyone gonna get my back? :>

Fair enough Spikee, my apologies. I was sure you had claimed
before that you owned a copy of UI Green. Must have been
mistaken.

xceque: That's it exactly. Everybody likes music, and
everybody (except Meho ;) likes collecting things. So why
should the two be mutually exclusive. I love the music I'm
into, so it gives me an extra buzz trying to track things
down and trading stuff. And even at my age I can get all
excited when I do find a great bargain or some ultra
rarity.

Meho: I check up on Avalanche every now and then, but you
lot are far too offensive for my liking ;)

Read my posts again please. I did have two. I don't really
want to go into detail but I didn't want my first one so it
got passed on at a low price to a friend when I get my new
old one. :> I 'upgraded' my copy.

I mixed UI (and misc braindance and such) at a house party
and even to this day people talk about me as the weird guy
with long hair and glasses who played some fucked up music.
The music influenced a lot of people that night.

Meho: Exactly, it's a Godflesh board for gods sake, gay love
and understanding have no place there!! It should be a
hetero-fuelled violent angst-ridden experience, not a tea
party with winnie the pooh...
In case you thought I was over-lurking at Avalanche, I just

long. I'm now owt.
