If anyone is interested, I have a large collexion of
personally-ripped chopin mp3s, from my own CD collection,
192kps which I'm sharing on soulseek - my user name is
marlowe, and I am in the aphextwin room most afternoons
GMT.

I have his nocturnes, his preludes, his waltzes, his sonata
in B-flat minor (the "funeral" march sonata)...oh, and a
polonaise - I'll be adding his piano concertoes soon.

If you like Beethoven, I have 10 of his piano sonatas, 2
piano concertoes, his 4th, 5th, 7th, and 9th symphonies, and
a triple concerto in C major - all personally ripped at a
high quality.

If you like Mozart, I have assorted mp3s, his first 4 piano
concertoes, the 40th and 41st symphonies, and his famous
requiem in D minor.

I have quite a lot of Bach too, tho not all of it personally
ripped, and I still have some bach CDs yet to be ripped.

favourite, mongo-babe

these great elecronical artists we love so much,

well, let's see... everyone who does a movie score with an
orchestra is a composer... my favorite living one is
probably philip glass or hans zimmer.

There are tons of composers still alive... basically anyone
who writes music is technically a composer. Their quality of
work is a different matter altogether.

alright, so my thought of a composer is quite ok.

ok, my "why should anyone buy"-sentence came up with all
those dead ones, i totally forgot all scores, musicals, and
furthermore...

im curious as could be,
i just checked the snips from watmm.com

sounded not so special but i want all...
its a shame i cant logon to ss at the moment...

(ugh, this took too long to reply, board was being funky for
me)

phil glass did a version of aphex's icct hedral with an
orchestra.

as far as why we would buy them... there are still people
today who are playing their music, the purchase of their
albums benefits those musicians... it all depends on who you
want to support. Personally though, I download classical
music, and save my money for the musicians who are selling
their albums themselves, directly. Every album I've bought
in the last 6 months has been from the hands of the artist
themselves. Sometimes literally, sometimes through their
websites.

supporting directly is best,

"im pretty sure zappa has been a composer. " ?

Frank Zappa was most definatly a composer, check out lumpy
gravy or the yellow shark.

He died in 1993 in case you're under the illusion that he's
still alive. if only it were true..

The pattern is clear - for the past five years a thief has
been operating, targeting CDs of Chopin nocturnes. His
method, to infiltrate innocent forums and wait silently for
mention of the fabled "Chopin". Then: he strikes!

I went to a very nice concert on the 13th, and one of the
pieces was Chopin's 2nd piano concerto, beautifully
played... the whole concert was great. The pianist sat a
couple of rows down from us after the interval, but I didn't
get the chance to voice my appreciation to him, alas.
