I've often thought I'd like a big citrix farm of sample
servers (which would also help deal with the processor load
of softsynths, fx etc.) for my music. Keep them in another
room, to cut down noise and just have a relatively low spec
quiet stable machine to actually work on.

you could set up a Terminal System instead of having "a
relatively low spec
quiet stable machine to actually work on."

That'd be expensive, but it'd be an ideal setup! :)

gflop = gigflop

Taken from Apple.com:

What makes a supercomputer “super” is its ability to
execute at least one billion floating-point operations per
second, a staggering measure of speed known as a
“gigaflop.”

Yeah, sorry with a citrix farm you can set it so clients are
terminal(s). I'd do that and also make the farm all RAID-1
so I'd never lose a track/sample...
