funny thing is that I own Ringu2..which is pretty decent..not mind blowing but I noticed the continuation..but those disfigured faces of the victims in the US version were quite hair raising... from seeing Ringu2 I assume that wasnt the case in the original version...

I liked the images on the video and the cool shot near the end when the woman kills the girl, just the way the camera floats down from above. Cool shot. All in all, it was fun.

same here.. the video montage was the best thing about the movie..very stylish...it was very clever deprecating humour when the video specialist just dismissed it as "Student Film" :)

The video can be downloaded. I think it was at ifilm or something. The cursed part that is, not the whole movie.

for some stupid reason, me and two friends went to see this movies totally stoned, it literally scared my head off, ABSOLUTELY disturbing in that state of mind.
(and i don`t know why i kept thinking that "Come to Daddy" would start playing at any time during the movie...i dunno, it felt like it was just the right track to go with the film)

really really really bad it was your general american 'thriller' plus i hate plot lines where techinical information is compleatly made up to serve a point in the film.....
"the data track is unique to the device which recorded it, to have a video without a data track is like to be born without fingerprints"
i dont understand who puts the garbage in when theres things like this? i mean do they get some guy to give them correct terms and then compleatly make their own stuff up?

Ring will always be my favourite but The Ring was a very good adaption.
Flea: the disfigured faces were in the original too. quite scary. It's a shame all of the trailers for the remake showed too much of the evil thing (not giving any spoilers!)
The Book translation is out soon, that is gonna be fucking amazing! (big Ring fan right here, incase you didn't know!)

I think "Ringu" is way better than "The Ring". The US version has nicer photo + it has Naomi Watts, but "Ringu" has way more logical story. Don't know why they changed it so much - since the japanese story is scarier.
Also the ex-husband in the japanese version rides a bike in one scene - hehe:
No adults ride bikes in Hollywood movies - unless they're suspicious and/or communists.

I agree with that. The one thing that bothered me the most about the remake was how horses played such a large part in it, seemingly for the simple reason that the horse on the ferry vaguely resembled Sadako from Ringu, with it's hair over it's eye. A fairly big plot revision for a fairly cheap gimmik.

I was disappointed by Ringu, the Japanese original--it didn't really hold much suspense for me, and I didn't feel it used its potential.
